Platform Systems Architect - Azure
Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled Platform Systems Architect with a strong background in Azure to join our team in El Segundo, CA. In this role, you will be instrumental in designing and deploying mission-critical software for space defense and space domain awareness. You will work at the intersection of strategic solutions architecture and technical platform engineering, helping to develop a modern, integrated cloud and hybrid cloud platform that supports current and future mission objectives. Collaborating with multiple teams and stakeholders, you will ensure the platform’s performance, security, and reliability while driving continuous innovation and optimization.
Education Requirements
Candidates should possess a Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Software Engineering, STEM, or IT from an accredited institution. Additional years of relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
Clearance Requirements
This role requires an active Secret clearance. The ability to obtain and maintain this clearance, which requires U.S. citizenship, is necessary for this opportunity.
Work Arrangement
This is a hybrid position and will only require reporting to the office as needed, approximately 1-2 days a week. The location is El Segundo, CA.
Responsibilities
- Design and implement a modern, integrated cloud/hybrid cloud platform aligned with current performance and mission objectives
- Understand and document the complete architecture of the existing cloud/hybrid cloud platform implementation
- Manage the technical baseline, including environments and applications, providing recommendations for optimization
- Enable successful achievement of scalability, reliability, security, resiliency, efficiency, and observability goals
- Document architectures, dependencies, interfaces, workflows, and processes for technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Collaborate with teams responsible for implementing platform components to ensure alignment with enterprise objectives and roadmaps
- Work closely with stakeholders to translate requirements into detailed architectural designs that support strategic goals
- Support application, enterprise, and environment engineering teams in deploying solutions that meet performance, security, and compliance standards
- Champion automation, continuous resource optimization, and seamless platform interoperability
- Evaluate and recommend emerging tools, technologies, and practices to enhance platform capabilities
- Monitor and optimize cloud and platform services for high performance, reliability, and cost-efficiency
- Stay informed on industry trends and emerging technologies to adapt architectural strategies proactively
Required Qualifications
- BS degree and 12 years of relevant experience or Master’s degree with 10 years of relevant experience; additional years of experience accepted in lieu of degree
- Active DoD 8570 IAT Level II or higher certification (e.g., Security )
- Familiarity with cloud/hybrid cloud platforms and their services within various security domains
- Experience designing and implementing large-scale, complex systems integrating cloud and on-premises platforms, with understanding of storage, compute, and throughput capabilities
- Deep expertise in cloud platforms, especially Azure, AWS, and Google Cloud, with a strong focus on Azure
- Strong background in enterprise architecture, systems integration, and hybrid/multi-cloud strategies
- Extensive knowledge of platform services, middleware, and enterprise integration frameworks
- Proficiency in Infrastructure-as-Code tools such as Terraform and CloudFormation
- Deep understanding of cloud security, compliance, and governance
- Active Cloud Solutions Architect Expert certification
- Azure certification is highly preferred
