Job Title: Backend Engineer II
Location: Seattle, WA 98101 (Hybrid) / 4 days onsite (Mon - Thur)
Duration: 12-month contract (with possible extension)
Start Date: Targeting Jan 2025
Pay Rate: $57.75/hr. to $63.38/hr. on W2
Benefits: Medical, Dental, Vision.
Shift timing: 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM or 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM (Pacific Time)

- Round 2: Technical Interview (1 hour)

Job Description:
Responsibilities:
- Design, build, and maintain backend services and RESTful APIs using Java (8 ) and Spring Boot
- Develop scalable, cloud-native microservices following software engineering best practices
- Perform data modeling, storage, and performance optimization using Amazon Aurora (PostgreSQL) and DynamoDB
- Collaborate with product managers, frontend engineers, and QA teams to deliver high-quality features
- Build and maintain integrations with internal and external systems
- Participate in code reviews, sprint planning, deployments, and incident response activities
- Ensure performance, security, reliability, and availability of backend services in production environments
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- 5–10 years of backend development experience using Java and Spring Boot
- Strong hands-on experience with RESTful API development and microservices architecture
- Proficiency with SQL and NoSQL databases
- Strong experience with Amazon Aurora (PostgreSQL)
- Familiarity with Amazon DynamoDB and efficient NoSQL data modeling
- Solid understanding of multithreading, concurrency, and application performance tuning
- Experience with Git, CI/CD pipelines, and build tools such as Maven or Gradle
- Experience deploying, monitoring, and supporting services in cloud environments (AWS preferred)
- Strong analytical, debugging, and troubleshooting skills
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with AWS services such as Lambda, S3, API Gateway, ECS, or EKS
- Familiarity with event-driven architecture and messaging tools like Kafka or SQS
- Hands-on experience with Docker and Kubernetes
- Knowledge of secure coding practices, API security, and OAuth2
- Experience writing unit and integration tests using JUnit, Mockito, or similar frameworks
- Monitoring and logging experience with CloudWatch and/or ELK Stack
Education:
- B.Tech or M.Tech in Computer Science / Information Technology
- Exposure to React, .NET WPF, or React Native is a plus
