The responsibility spans across direct people management, external stakeholder management, and internal Medical Affairs strategy development and execution.
Position Summary
The Director, Medical Field Team is a field-facing representative of the US Medical Affairs Department. The Director, Medical Field Team will be responsible for the direct management of a portion of the Medical Field team including but not limited to supervision, execution of assigned Medical Field activities, expense report reviews and approvals, PTO approvals, field observations, Medical Field team development and Medical Field team evaluations. The Director, Medical Field Team will maintain regular communication and frequent collaboration with the other home office Medical Affairs functional leaders including key product leaders, Matrix team members and Sr. Director, Medical Field Team to ensure alignment of activities and direction amongst all Medical Field team members. This will ensure accurate and timely understanding and execution of Medical Affairs strategy, projects, documentation and reporting with Medical Field team members.
Performance Objectives
If hired, employee will be in an “at-will position” and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.

Performance Objectives
- Provide point of contact for day-to-day activities for assigned Medical Field team members: Implementation of the Medical Field approved geographical plan
- Assisting Medical Field team, as needed, in providing medical and/or scientific data about Taiho Oncology products and research to Scientific Leaders (SLs)/Health Care Providers (HCPs).
- Execute projects and ensure delivery of outcomes such as:
- Development of SL lists (for Ad Boards, disease expert lists, site investigator lists, etc.),
- Lead direct reports to support Investigator Initiated Trials (IIT) requests and submissions
- Both provide and lead direct reports in medical meeting coverage
- Provide input to / collaborate with, the Medical Affairs Product leaders and Sr. Director, National Medical Field Team in the development of Medical Field team objectives, tactics and metrics:
- Align with Head of Medical Field Team, to assign direct reports to projects
- Hold direct reports accountable for attainment of medical and business objectives, prioritization of tactics, mentorship, and overall leadership for the team.
- Ensure timely and complete documentation of activities of direct reports to support department yearly goals
- Collaborate with matrix team and provide input to process planning of training for Medical Field Team.
- Provide oversight and coaching to direct reports for field team performance reviews, approvals, and monitoring for compliance.
- Be a role model for compliant and effective customer interactions for Medical Field team members.
- Other assigned projects
- A terminal D degree (i.e., MD, PharmD or PhD) or equivalent in medical or health sciences is strongly preferred.
- 8-plus years of experience in Medial Affairs, e.g., in the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industries is preferred
- 5-plus years' experience as a Medical Science Liaison preferred
- Demonstrated leadership success in a key initiative in a Clinical, pharmaceutical or biotech company preferred.
- 3- plus years of supervisory and management experience preferred.
- 3-plus years of oncology/hematology strongly preferred
- Clinical trial development experience is preferred.
- Ability to read, analyze and interpret scientific and technical information and data.
- Individual should be able to apply critical thinking process in order to optimize strategic initiatives and decision making.
- Excellent English communication skills, both verbal and written.

Salary : $238,000 - $280,000
