What are the responsibilities and job description for the STAFF ACCOUNTANT position at Tahoe Mountain Club?
Reporting to the Controller, the Staff Accountant is a key player in day to day accounting activities including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and General Ledger.The Staff accountant will provide support to the Controller, helping to ensure accurate financial information for both internal and external reporting. The ideal candidate is a self-starter who can work both independently and in a team invironment. Responsible for full cycle Accounts Payable, assisting with Account Receivable and Membership Accounting, daily and monthly journal entries, reconciliations, and will act as a backup for payroll.
Qualifications:High School Diploma or GED and 3-5 years of GL accounting experience is required. Bachelor’s Degree in finance or accounting strongly desired but not required. Must have a basic Microsoft Office Suite skills, particularly Outlook and Excel. Quickbooks IES or other major accounting platform experience is a plus, but not required.
- Performs general accounting and other related duties for the organization
- Enter daily and monthly journal entries, including prepaids, expenses, and accruals
- Assists in the preparation of monthly financial statements
- Monthly bank reconciliations
- Monthly balance sheet reconciliations
- Purchases and maintains all office supplies
- Accurately code, enter, and ensure invoices are paid timely
- Maintains accounts payable aging, verifies subsidiary ledger balances to general ledger
- Reconciled vendor statements to ensure all Club liabilities for products and services are recorded, and vendors properly apply all payments on Club accounts. Procures missing invoices, following up with managers to obtain approval.
- Responds to vendor inquiries regarding status of payments
- Assists managers with inquiries regarding department expenditures.
- Maintains numerical sequence of check stock, accounting for all check numbers issued/voided
- Ensures all blank check stock is properly safeguarded
- Compiles and maintains credit applications for vendors
- Ensures all vendors are approved, W-9 forms are obtained, and 1099 information for vendors properly maintained
- Annual filing of 1099s
- Assists in membership accounting and the collection of past due accounts receivable
- Acts as backup for payroll
- Other duties as assigned by manager
Because of the fluctuating demands of the Club’s operation, it may be necessary that each employee perform a multitude of different functions; therefore, as an essential part of your job, you will be expected to help others when the occasion arises, just as other employees are expected to help you. Accordingly, you may be expected to perform other tasks, not specifically addressed above.
