Tahoe Donner Association is looking for Fun and Personable Bicycle Instructors to join our Bikeworks Team! The Bike Instructor is responsible for teaching mountain biking skills to participants of all ages on Tahoe Donner properties and trails. This position will also lead a variety of groups on guided rides of Tahoe Donner trails. They may also be responsible for properly sizing and renting adult and children’s bicycles, as well as assisting with bicycle maintenance and repair, equipment and accessory sales, special event, races and other activities.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Provides excellent customer service to members, guests, general public, and employees.
- Maintain current knowledge, implement and enforce Association policies, procedures, rules and regulations.
- Work with guests of all ages, with a focus on children.
- Provides basic, intermediate and advanced mountain biking skills to guests of all ages.
- Maintains an environment of safety, fun and learning.
- Properly fit guests on rental equipment, teach them about the various parts of the bike, complete all required paperwork and inform them about local riding locations and options.
- Assist with customer service including providing on snow information, answering questions, encouraging lesson participation, assisting with equipment fitting and pass checking.
- Assist with rental shop service if requested, assisting with maintenance and cleanliness of the bicycle program areas.
- Assist with area set up, races, promotions and special events.
- Uphold Tahoe Donner Association’s zero tolerance standard for sexual abuse and molestation by following protocols to protect students from inappropriate behavior by staff members, guests, and other students.

We are looking for the following qualifications:
Required at all levels
- Must be comfortable and competent mountain biking groomed and ungroomed trails.
- Ability to assess and teach to a level appropriate to an assigned student or group’s abilities, fitness and needs.
- Current International Mountain Biking Association (IMBA) membership recommended.
- Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and First Aid certifications are recommended.
- Effective communication skills, oral and written.
- Proficient knowledge about bicycle fit and function required.
- Strong sense of customer service and safety awareness.
Level I (in addition to the qualifications above)
- Ability and knowledge to teach basic mountain biking skills to guests of all ages.
- Current Professional Mountain Bike Instructor Association (PMBIA) Level 1 certification or equivalent required.
These skills and abilities are typically acquired through a high school diploma or equivalent and one-year related experience and/or training in the mountain bike instruction business; or an equivalent combination of formal training, education and experience which demonstrates the ability to perform all of the duties of the position.
Salary : $20 - $27
