Business Development Manager - Events Overview

We are looking for a full-time (40 hours per week) Business Development Manager who can support our growing Events department. As a Business Development Manager, you will have a diverse and varied role. You’ll collaborate with our global teams to support company initiatives and uncover innovative solutions, while taking a proactive approach to your day-to-day responsibilities. Weekend and on-call coverage may be required for this position.

Responsibilities & Duties

  • Drive the growth and success of TAG Events by proactively identifying and pursuing new business opportunities
  • Manage the full sales cycle, including lead generation, qualification, pitching, proposal development, negotiation, and closing
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for new clients throughout the entire sales process
  • Build and leverage a strong professional network to attract prospective clients and expand market reach
  • Lead commercial discussions and negotiate pricing and contract terms in alignment with company objectives
  • Maintain accurate records in the CRM to track pipeline, client interactions, and lifecycle management
  • Represent TAG at trade shows, conferences, networking events, and client meetings to enhance brand visibility and generate leads
  • Identify opportunities to improve TAG Events’ offerings to meet and exceed client expectations
  • Collaborate with global sales and account management teams to share leads and support company growth objectives
  • Stay informed on industry and company developments to maintain expertise in travel, entertainment, and events sectors
  • Perform additional duties as assigned to support team and company goals

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree (BA/BS) preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and directly related experience
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the events market, ideally within a travel management company (TMC) client base
  • Extensive experience in business development within the events or travel industry (required)
  • Strong understanding of company values, strategic objectives, and the execution of business strategies
  • Proven success in a similar role within a competitive, fast-paced industry
  • Proficient in HubSpot or other customer relationship management (CRM) systems
  • Demonstrated ability to perform effectively under pressure while managing multiple priorities
