San Diego, CA (On-Site) | Full Time
Plumb provides high-touch bill payment and family office accounting services for Ultra High Net Worth individuals and their advisors. We are known for accuracy, operational excellence, and exceptional service—guided by Plumb’s 13 Principles. As we continue to grow, we are hiring a Bill Pay Manager to
own the day-to-day execution of our Bill Pay department and ensure smooth, reliable, timely workflows with minimal escalation to leadership.
This is an on-site, hands-on operational leadership role, ideal for someone who excels in process management, people management, approvals, controls, and daily bill payment execution—
This role is intentionally execution-focused and is not a controller or financial statement preparer role.
About the Role
The Bill Pay Manager is the single point of ownership for our Bill Pay team.
You will:
Own and execute daily bill pay workflows end to end- Manage a team of 4–8 specialists
- Ensure payments, approvals, and reconciliations are completed accurately and on time
Independently resolve workflow issues before they escalate- Uphold internal controls, compliance steps, and documentation standards
You are the person who keeps everything moving—organized, calm, structured, and accountable.
This role acts as the day-to-day operational proxy for the Operations Manager for all Bill Pay matters.
This role is perfect for someone who thrives in operations, service delivery, and team management, rather than deep accounting or financial analysis.
What You’ll Do
Lead day-to-day Bill Pay Operations
- Oversee invoice entry, approvals, payment processing, vendor setup, and quality checks
Own deadlines and ensure all workflows are completed accurately without escalation
Own operational issues & escalation paths
Identify, decide on, and resolve workflow gaps independently
Escalate to leadership only when client relationship or leadership-level decisions are required
What We’re Looking For
This position is ideal for someone who:
- Enjoys managing workflows and people, not month-end closes or financial reporting
- Has strong experience in bill pay, accounts payable, or operational accounting
- Thrives in a high-volume, detail-heavy environment
- Values consistency, structure, and accountability
Can confidently own operations, make independent judgment calls, and resolve issues without default escalation
What This Role Is Not
To help filter the right applicants:
- This is not a controller, financial reporting, or strategic accounting role.
- It is not focused on producing financial statements, tax prep, budgeting, or CFO-level analysis.
Candidates who prefer escalating issues rather than owning and resolving them will not be a fit.
Salary : $80,000 - $105,000
