Overview
The Catering Operations Manager (COM) is responsible for planning, organizing, and executing all catering events for Tacos 1986 — from setup to breakdown. This role ensures that every catering order, delivery, and on-site event runs smoothly, efficiently, and with the same quality and hospitality that guests experience inside our restaurants.
The COM works closely with the Catering Sales Manager, culinary team, and store leadership to coordinate logistics, staffing, equipment, and timing for each event. This person thrives on operational precision, team coordination, and creating memorable experiences for guests.
Key Responsibilities
Event Operations & Execution
- Manage the full lifecycle of catering events — from receiving orders to setup, service, and cleanup.
- Schedule and oversee catering delivery drivers, servers, and support staff.
- Coordinate logistics such as food prep timing, packaging, transportation, and presentation.
- Ensure all catering equipment, serving items, and signage are prepared and maintained.
- Maintain food safety and sanitation standards in all off-site operations.
Team Leadership & Coordination
- Lead and train catering staff on service, presentation, and customer interaction.
- Communicate daily with the Catering Sales Manager and kitchen teams to align on event details.
- Build and maintain a reliable roster of catering staff and brand ambassadors.
- Foster teamwork and uphold Tacos 1986’s culture at every event.
Logistics & Inventory Management
- Oversee catering inventory, including serving ware, utensils, packaging, and uniforms.
- Manage delivery vehicles and ensure they are properly maintained and stocked.
- Track usage, loss, and replenishment of all catering assets.
- Implement efficient systems for order packing and loading.
Financial & Reporting
- Track labor, mileage, and event-related expenses to maintain cost efficiency.
- Review and reconcile catering invoices and vendor charges.
- Report post-event results, issues, and feedback to the Director of Operations.
- Support budgeting and forecasting for catering operations.
Brand Experience
- Ensure all catering setups reflect the quality and style of Tacos 1986.
- Act as on-site brand representative during large events.
- Uphold Tacos 1986 hospitality and service standards at all times.
- Seek opportunities to improve processes and guest experience.
Qualifications
- 3 years of experience in catering operations, event production, or multi-site food service management.
- Strong organizational and leadership skills with attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple events and priorities simultaneously.
- Knowledge of food safety, storage, and transportation best practices.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to drive catering vehicles.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) strongly preferred.
