Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Operations Supervisor to oversee daily operations. The Supervisor of Aquatic Boat Operations is responsible for overseeing and participating in the day-to-day operation of the removal of invasive plant life from Robinson Pond.
Duties
Crew Management:
- Lead and supervise two boat operators, assign tasks and ensure proper training and safety compliance.
- Monitor crew performance, provide feedback, and address any operational issues that arrive during harvest operations.
- Regular communications with the Harvesting Director and Maintenance Supervisor regarding water levels, potential mechanical issues, equipment maintenance, weather forecasts, etc.
Equipment Operation and Maintenance:
- Inspect and operate specialized aquatic harvesting equipment, including the harvester boat, cutting mechanisms, loading and transportation systems. Complete annual equipment startup and end of season checklists.
- Perform routine maintenance checks on equipment, identify potential issues, and coordinate necessary repairs with the maintenance supervisor.
- Ensure proper fuel management and adherence to manufacturer guidelines for equipment operation.
Harvesting Operations:
- Daily roadside lake inspection to develop a daily plan of operations and assignments. Meet with the team to review the plan and assignments. Execute weed harvesting operations based on designated areas and weather conditions.
- Monitor harvesting progress, adjust cutting patterns as needed, and optimize efficiency to maximize weed removal.
- Coordinate with Taconic Shores management team to ensure compliance with harvesting permits and regulations.
- Using the Lowrance Mapping tool, map the lake 3 times per year and submit the data to the Lake Manager.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Must be willing to learn and operate the weed harvesting equipment. Provide boat maintenance such as fluid changes, hydraulic line changes, filter changes, etc in coordination with the maintenance crew.
- Ability to report both orally and in writing.
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions and perform physical tasks related to equipment operation and maintenance.
