Tears Technologies LLC is seeking a Co-Founder / Strategic Advisor to support the company’s entry into U.S. government innovation programs, including SBIR, AFWERX, DARPA challenges, and maritime autonomy initiatives.
We are developing low-cost autonomous sensor platforms and are looking for an advisor with experience navigating U.S. government processes, defense innovation pipelines, or federal contracting.
Formal engineering work is not required — the focus is on strategy, positioning, and communication.
This role is ideal for someone with previous service in the U.S. Armed Forces, government, or defense industry who wants to join a small, agile company and shape direction from day one.
Responsibilities
Provide strategic guidance for participation in SBIR and other federal programs
Advise on positioning TAARS technology for government use cases
Help establish connections with relevant agencies, labs, accelerators, and program offices
Review documentation, proposals, and submissions
Participate in high-level decision-making as part of the founding team
Qualifications
Prior experience in U.S. military, government, or defense-related industry (active duty or retired — welcome)
Understanding of SBIR/AFWERX or federal innovation pipeline
Strong communication and advisory skills
Ability to guide a small company entering the U.S. market
Interest in autonomous systems, maritime innovation, or emerging technology
