TPI Building Code Consultants is seeking an experienced and knowledgeable Electrical Inspector to join our team. This position is responsible for conducting electrical inspections on residential and commercial construction projects, ensuring work is completed in compliance with applicable electrical codes, building codes, and approved plans.
The ideal candidate will have strong field experience, excellent knowledge of electrical codes and standards, and the ability to communicate inspection requirements clearly and professionally with contractors, electricians, property owners, and other project stakeholders.
This is an on-site position and is not eligible for work-from-home arrangements.

- Conduct electrical inspections for residential and commercial construction projects.
- Inspect electrical installations, systems, equipment, and related work for compliance with applicable codes and approved construction documents.
- Verify that electrical work is performed in accordance with the adopted National Electrical Code (NEC) and applicable local and state requirements.
- Review electrical plans and construction documents as necessary to verify compliance with applicable codes and standards.
- Identify code violations and clearly communicate required corrections to contractors and other responsible parties.
- Prepare accurate inspection reports and maintain detailed records of inspection activities.
- Conduct inspections at various stages of construction, including rough-in, service, equipment, and final inspections.
- Answer technical questions and provide clear guidance regarding electrical code requirements.
- Coordinate with building officials, contractors, architects, engineers, and other project stakeholders as needed.
- Maintain a professional and consistent approach when conducting inspections and enforcing code requirements.
- Stay current with changes to electrical codes, standards, and applicable regulations.
- Manage assigned inspection schedules and complete required documentation in a timely manner.
- Current and applicable ICC electrical inspector certifications (residential and commercial) are required.
- Experience conducting electrical inspections in both residential and commercial construction.
- Strong working knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC) and applicable building and electrical codes.
- Ability to interpret electrical plans, construction documents, and technical specifications.
- Demonstrated ability to identify code deficiencies and communicate correction requirements clearly and professionally.
- Strong attention to detail and sound judgment.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently while effectively interacting with contractors, tradespeople, design professionals, and the public.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
- Ability to travel to various inspection locations within the assigned service area.
- Ability to work outdoors and in active construction environments, including exposure to varying weather conditions and job-site conditions.
- ICC certifications related to electrical inspection.
- Extensive experience with both residential and commercial electrical systems.
- Previous experience working as an electrical inspector, building inspector, electrical contractor, electrician, or plans examiner.
- Experience working with municipalities, building departments, contractors, developers, architects, and engineers.
- Knowledge of electronic inspection and permitting systems.
- Experience with plan review and electrical code consulting.
