T and D Communications is a privately held information and communication technology services corporation in business since 1982 with operations in California and Texas. Our core business is the turn-key planning, design, installation and maintenance of voice, data and video technologies for commercial buildings and campuses. Led by our staff of RCDDs, RF and wireless engineers, and network and systems engineers; our technology practices include Cellular and First Responder Distributed Antenna Systems (DAS/ERRCS), Network Infrastructure (LAN/WAN), Enterprise and Guest Wi-Fi (WLAN), Electronic Security Systems (ACS/CCTV), Audio-Visual, Overhead Paging & Intercom Systems, and construction of Low Voltage and Structured Cabling Systems including copper, fiber optic (including Air-Blown Fiber), and underground (outside plant) cable. Our California, Nevada, and public utility communications installers and technicians are represented by the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW).
We are seeking an experienced Branch Manager to lead our Administrative Staff throughout Northern California. Reporting to the President, this role oversees communication system installations and coordinates daily with Technicians, Contractors, Subcontractors, Project Managers (PMs), and Clients. As a key member of the Leadership Team, the Branch Manager is responsible for driving operational performance, meeting revenue and profit goals, and ensuring successful project execution.
What We Are Looking For
- Associate degree, trade school degree, or equivalent corporate or military training
- Minimum of 5 years of technical experience, including hands-on field experience
- Experience managing all phases of a project from kickoff to closeout, including change orders, cost management, and final documentation
- Experience managing large-scale projects valued at over $2 million
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong financial management skills, including KPI analysis, corrective action planning, and delivering projects on budget
- Understanding of low-voltage systems and technologies, including Surveillance & Access Control, Audio Visual, Wi-Fi, DAS, structured cabling, and OSP fiber/copper
- Strong work ethic with the ability to communicate professionally with Clients, Technicians, and Contractors
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects, meet deadlines, and deliver on time and within budget
- Ability to develop and manage detailed project schedules
- Experience ensuring proactive, effective, and continuous communication among all team members
- Experience maintaining thorough documentation, timekeeping, and project reporting
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 (Outlook, Word, Excel, OneDrive/SharePoint)
- Experience working in a Union shop
Preferred Qualifications:
- BICSI RCDD
- PMP Certification
- Experience with MS Project, Visio, PlanGrid, and Bluebeam
Responsibilities
Branch Leadership & Management
- Oversee all branch personnel, including Administrative Staff, Project Managers, and IBEW Union Technicians
- Partner with Human Resources on staffing, performance reviews, documentation, and personnel matters
- Manage and maintain required technical training and certifications for all staff
- Recruit, grow, and develop your team; manage the operational budget and be accountable for results
- Mentor direct reports and support their leadership development
- Communicate company goals and direction to ensure alignment across the branch
- Develop and implement training curriculum to maintain required knowledge and certifications
- Advise on strategic initiatives and provide leadership, guidance, and direction
Safety & Compliance
- Identify health and safety risks in the office and on job sites
- Maintain and enforce Corporate Safety and Employee Handbook policies
- Promote a strong culture of workplace safety and ensure execution of the safety program
Branch Operations
- Oversee day-to-day branch operations and ensure effective use of all resources
- Manage the upkeep and condition of the vehicle fleet, office, tools, and equipment
- Coordinate with Clients, Suppliers, and Industry Partners
- Manage costs, overhead, and all factors affecting branch profitability, including:
- Project progress
- Project P&L
- WIP report reviews
- G&A
- Contribute to company strategy and policy development
- Ensure customer service activities are executed effectively
Corporate Standards & Reporting
- Ensure corporate practices, procedures, and policies are communicated and executed throughout the branch
- Keep management informed of developments that may significantly impact operations or projects
- Maintain full awareness of the status of all projects
- Ensure timely submission of all required paperwork, including invoices, billing, payroll information, and change orders
- Conduct bi-annual performance reviews for Project Managers, Office Staff, and Technicians
- Handle conflict resolution, employee motivation, and client relationship preservation
- Administer disciplinary actions when necessary, in accordance with the Employee Handbook and CBA
- Monitor all time-recording reports
Project & Proposal Support
- Assist with developing and reviewing estimates and proposals
- Ensure thorough documentation and reporting throughout project lifecycles
Union Relations
- Serve as liaison with all signatory Locals, including business managers, organizers, and dispatchers
- Prevent and manage grievances
- Partner on projects and leverage marketing funds when applicable
Vendor Interface
- Act as the technical interface to vendors
- Stay current on technologies and industry trends
- Maintain vendor technical requirements for reseller certifications and programs
Sales & Customer Relationship Management
- Attend customer meetings and maintain strong client relationships
- Prepare estimates, SOWs, proposals, and vendor quotes
- Serve as the technical interface to customers
- Present new and emerging technologies to clients
