T.A. Smith Distributing is seeking an experienced Distribution or Manufacturing Operations Manager to lead our Warehouse and Delivery business units. This leadership role is responsible for building high-performing teams, driving operational excellence, and ensuring efficient, and customer-focused operations. You'll lead business unit managers, improve processes, manage budgets, and help shape the future of our operations through strategic planning and continuous improvement.
Responsibilities
- Lead the daily operations of the Warehouse and Delivery business units.
- Develop, coach, and hold managers and employees accountable for performance, safety, and professional growth.
- Establish, document, and improve operational processes and standard operating procedures.
- Drive continuous improvement by identifying root causes, implementing solutions, and proactively addressing operational issues.
- Develop and manage departmental budgets while controlling expenses and improving efficiency.
- Oversee inventory control to ensure product accuracy and minimize shrinkage.
- Monitor key performance indicators and leverage data and technology to improve productivity and service.
- Ensure compliance with DOT regulations, company policies, and all applicable State and Federal regulatory requirements.
- Lead workforce planning, scheduling, training, and performance management.
- Partner with executive leadership on tactical and strategic initiatives that support company growth.
- Manage multiple priorities while maintaining efficient day-to-day operations.
- Foster a culture of accountability, teamwork, safety, and respect through strong leadership and emotional intelligence.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Operations Management, Supply Chain, Logistics, or a related field preferred. Equivalent leadership experience or education will be considered.
- Five (5) or more years of progressive leadership experience in operations, warehouse, logistics, transportation, or distribution management.
- Proven success leading multiple departments and developing high-performing teams.
- Experience managing operational budgets and controlling costs.
- Experience with logistics, inventory or product assortment software
- Demonstrated ability to improve processes, establish SOPs, and lead continuous improvement initiatives.
- Experience using KPIs, data, and technology to drive operational performance.
- Strong knowledge of warehouse operations, inventory management, fleet operations, and transportation logistics.
- Working knowledge of DOT regulations, OSHA standards, and regulatory compliance.
- Excellent leadership, communication, coaching, and conflict resolution skills.
- Strong organizational, project management, and time management abilities.
- Proactive problem solver with the ability to anticipate challenges and implement effective solutions.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
- Ability to think strategically while remaining actively engaged in daily operations.
