Duties
- Finish concrete surfaces by smoothing, leveling, and shaping using hand tools and power tools to achieve the desired texture and appearance.
- Install rebar and metal reinforcement according to schematics and blueprints to ensure structural integrity.
- Operate heavy equipment such as concrete mixers, pumps, and lifting machinery safely and efficiently on construction sites.
- Read blueprints and schematics to interpret project specifications accurately for concrete forming, framing, and finishing tasks.
- Apply finishing techniques including troweling, floating, edging, and caulking to produce flawless surfaces suitable for flooring or decorative purposes.
- Assist with rebar installation, metal stud framing, masonry work, and other related construction activities to support project completion.
- Conduct site inspections to ensure safety standards are maintained while performing heavy lifting, demolition, or renovation tasks.
- Collaborate with carpenters, masons, welders, and other trades to coordinate work flows during restoration or new construction projects.
- Use hand tools such as trowels, floats, screeds, and plastering tools to achieve precise finishes on concrete surfaces.
- Maintain a clean work environment by organizing tools and materials while adhering to safety protocols throughout the project lifecycle.
Experience
- Proven experience working on construction sites with a focus on concrete finishing or related trades such as masonry or carpentry.
- Knowledge of concrete mixing procedures, curing processes, and finishing techniques for various surface types including hardscape applications.
- Familiarity with blueprint reading, schematics interpretation, and technical drawings relevant to concrete projects.
- Hands-on experience operating power tools like grinders, mixers, saws, and pneumatic tools used in concrete finishing.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely while maintaining precision during detailed finishing tasks.
- Experience with rebar installation, metal stud framing, stucco application or roofing is a plus but not required.
- Strong understanding of construction estimating principles for material needs and project timelines is advantageous.
