Job description
- Responds to telephone, written, electronic, and in‐person inquiries by providing information and assistance to the public, veterans, family members, representatives, and outside agencies; follows up as necessary.
- Performs eligibility determinations for individuals applying for or receiving cemetery‐related benefits and services.
- Maintains knowledge of services, programs, and resources available through the cemetery; assists in the development and upkeep of reference and resource materials.
- Coordinates services and communicates with cemetery field staff to ensure appropriate support and follow‐through for applicants and families.
- Serves as a liaison and advocate with service provider agencies; assists individuals with the completion of applications and required documentation.
- Conducts interviews in an office, on‐site, or field setting, as required.
- Assists with the distribution of printed materials and informational resources.
- Supports the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual statistical and informational reports.
- Receives, investigates, and documents complaints and concerns in accordance with established procedures.
- Participates in assigned outreach activities statewide, including information fairs, public meetings, identification card processing, and eligibility screenings.
- Performs related clerical and administrative duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Capacities
- Working knowledge of business English.
- Familiarity with standard office practices, procedures, and filing systems.
- Ability to perform basic tabulation and arithmetic calculations.
- Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
- Ability to interact courteously and effectively with the public and internal staff.
- Ability to maintain accurate records and handle sensitive information with discretion.
Education
Education equivalent to graduation from a senior high school; or any combination of education and experience that is substantially equivalent to the above.
Preferred Skills and Qualifications
- Experience working in a public‐facing, customer service, or administrative support role.
- Experience in a government, healthcare, veterans’ services, or cemetery environment.
- Familiarity with eligibility determinations, benefits processing, or application review processes.
- Proficiency with common office software (e.g., Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook) and basic data systems.
- Demonstrated interpersonal skills and ability to interact compassionately with veterans, family members, and the public.
- Experience supporting outreach activities, reporting, or community events.
Salary : $18 - $20
