System One is assisting a client with a search for an Operations Finance Controller to serve as the on-site finance partner to plant leadership, owning budgeting/forecasting and performance management. This role focuses on FP&A, operational finance, and analytics (not transactional accounting), driving visibility into cost, margin, inventory, and capital to support decision-making. This role will be located in Longview, Texas.
Responsibilities
- Partner with plant leadership to provide decision-ready financial insights
- Lead budgeting, forecasting, and driver-based planning; explain key changes
- Perform variance analysis with root-cause and action items
- Build and maintain plant KPI dashboards (labor, overhead, scrap, inventory, margin)
- Improve costing and margin transparency; link operations to financial results
- Collaborate with cost accounting on standard cost inputs and assumptions
- Support inventory performance and physical inventory analytics/reconciliation
- Lead capex planning, ROI modeling, and investment tracking
- Identify and track cost reduction initiatives
- Lead/develop plant finance team and support SOX-aware controls
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or related field
- 8 years in manufacturing finance, plant FP&A, or operations finance
- Strong knowledge of manufacturing KPIs and cost drivers
- Advanced Excel and financial modeling skills
- Ability to communicate effectively with non-finance leaders
- Experience building dashboards and performance reporting
- Preferred: standard costing, physical inventory, cost reduction leadership
- Preferred: MBA, CPA, or CMA
- Major plus: SAP (FI/CO or manufacturing data flows)
- On-site initially with potential flexibility after ramp-up
