Underwriter (Contract-to-Hire) – On-Site in Tulsa or OKC
Compensation: $80,000 per year
A client is seeking an experienced Mortgage Underwriter for an on-site, contract-to-hire position based in either Tulsa or Oklahoma City. This role requires a strong command of mortgage guidelines, the ability to manage a pipeline of 50–60 loans per month, and a commitment to staying current with all regulatory requirements.
Secondary employment is not permitted.
Responsibilities
- Underwrite loan files from origination through closing with accuracy and efficiency.
- Review and verify credit, income, asset, collateral, and appraisal documentation.
- Ensure loan files meet all current federal, state, investor, and agency guidelines.
- Clearly communicate conditions, decisions, and findings to processors and loan officers.
- Collaborate with the loan team to resolve issues and maintain smooth workflow.
- Stay up-to-date with mortgage regulations, requirements, and industry changes.
Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years’ experience underwriting Conventional, FHA (DE), and VA (SAR) loans.
- Experience with HUD 184 and USDA loans is a plus.
- Strong proficiency with Desktop Underwriter (DU) and Loan Prospector (LP).
- Familiarity with GUS preferred.
- Experience with Encompass software preferred.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
- High attention to detail, accuracy, and organization.
- Positive, team-oriented attitude.
- Underwriting certifications preferred but not required.
