Responsibilities
- Oversee EI & C Shop operations to ensure efficient installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of mill equipment, adhering to safety protocols and policies.
- Promote continuous safety awareness, ensuring incident investigations are completed and safety policies are followed.
- Coordinate and prioritize maintenance activities with Maintenance Department leaders, planners, and production teams.
- Mentor employees to upgrade their skills and support the apprenticeship program through process audits.
- Manage employee onboarding, succession planning, and conflict resolution initiatives.
- Maintain effective relationships with operations, vendors, contractors, and engineering teams.
- Evaluate work order backlog, monitor progress, and recommend improvements for work efficiency.
- Review and approve discretionary spending, purchase requisitions, invoices, and manage departmental budgets.
- Contribute to capital budgeting decisions, replacements, upgrades, and outage planning.
- Participate in on-call rotation, handle deadlines, and meet variable workload demands.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives such as scheduling, PM/PdM, and 6S practices.
- Ensure shop equipment meets ISO standards and participate in RCFA processes to enhance reliability.
Requirements
- Journeyman level certification in a state recognized apprentice program or equivalent work experience (desired).
- Ability to manage and lead personnel effectively.
- Minimum of five (5) years experience in an industrial environment.
- Strong communication skills, both written and oral.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications; experience with SAP, SAP-PM or other software required.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Knowledge of safety hazards and appropriate precautions.
- Ability to wear respirator safety equipment and protective clothing.
- Mathematical skills for design and estimation tasks.
- Ability to interpret technical files, drawings, and manuals.
- Must possess and maintain a valid Pennsylvania driver’s license.
- Physical ability to handle hands-on tasks, sit, stand, walk, climb, and operate vision and hearing protections as required in a noisy environment.
