Conduct chemical analyses, such as blood and urine, using microscope or automatic analyzer to detect abnormalities of diseases; enter findings into the computer. Set up, adjust, maintain and clean medical laboratory equipment; use special mechanical and electrical devices to analyze the results of tests and equipment, ensuring conformity to specifications. Conduct blood tests for transfusion purposes and perform blood counts. Obtain specimens; cultivate, isolate and identify microorganisms for analysis. Obtain, analyze and report laboratory results in an accurate and efficient manner as outlined in the laboratory policy and procedure manual. Examine cells stained with dye to locate abnormalities; collect blood or tissue samples from patients; observe principles of asepsis to obtain blood samples. Consult with pathologists and other providers to determine final diagnoses when abnormal cells are found. Clearly communicate and accurately report any orders received via the telephone to ensure the correct tests are performed and diagnoses are recorded. Perform periodic maintenance on all laboratory instrumentation for quality assurance.

Requirements

· Bachelor’s in Medical Technology, Medical Laboratory Science or Clinical Laboratory Science

· 1 years of experience as a Medical Technologist

· Certification by the American Medical Technologists (AMT) or the American Society of Clinical Pathology (ASCP).

· Background check required.

· Rotate call and work weekends as assigned to assure 24-hour, 7 days a week coverage to the Laboratory Department.
