Job Summary
Provides quality primary care to patients in the clinic and hospital setting including outpatient, emergency room, obstetrics, and surgical areas as delineated in the privileges granted by the Medical Staff. Provides quality of care through continuity and coordination of care from other providers and community resources.
Essential Job Functions
· Provides comprehensive medical care to patients of all ages in accordance with the standards of the licensing body and standard of care.
· Physician will see patients in accordance with a schedule as outlined by clinic administration, including coverage for providers on vacation or otherwise unable to provide service.
· Educates patients and/or families about preventive care, medical issues, and use of prescribed medical treatments and/or medications.
· The Physician will lead a team (which can include nurse, clinical assistant, case manager, and reception). This team will together seek to provide comprehensive healthcare following a patient centered medical home model. The provider will seek to further the health of his or her panel of patients beyond just seeing patients on a schedule. This includes gathering information about the empaneled patients to identify needs, work with clinic administration to ensure that patients have access to care, facilitate case management to patients who have above average medical needs, and participate in ongoing quality improvement projects.
· Responsible for medical records management including timely patient charting and documentation in the Electronic Health Record (EHR). Assists the clinic operations manager with ensuring proper medical records and billing procedures are accurate and timely according to hospital policy and systems. This responsibility involves coordinating and recommending training on medical records, confidentiality and other patient subjects for staff handling of patient information. Assists with developing and revising clinical procedures as necessary.
· Responsible for providing proper oversight to Advanced Practice Providers (APP) as designated by contract.
· Assists in the efficient operation of the clinic by coordinating patient care services through interaction with the clinic and hospital staff.
· Works with the Administration to ensure procedures and protocols are adhered to, with regard to standard of care.
· Provides direction to clinical staff with regards to patient care, data reporting and gathering, and communication with patients.
· Attends Medical Staff meetings.
· Serves on the Medical Staff Committees and participates in peer review.
· Provides community education when requested. Works collaboratively with clinic management to generate reports and outcome measures as requested.
· Participates in Performance Improvement and Quality Initiatives as needed.
· Participate in mandatory training on EHR and demonstrate basic competency in the functions applicable to their role; Competency in HER is required to work and/or admit patients to SHC.
Minimum Requirements
· Current license to practice medicine as a physician in the state of Idaho.
· Current BLS, ACLS, ATLS, and NRP certification required.
· Current DEA certificate without restriction.
· Controlled Substance Certificate from the Borad of Pharmacy.
· Current PALS certification preferred, required for actively practicing Obstetrics.
· Must maintain medical staff privileges with Syringa Hospital as approved by the medical staff and board of trustees.
