CMM Programmer

Position Overview:

This role involves interpreting engineering drawings and CAD models, applying Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) principles, documenting inspection results, and supporting quality assurance initiatives. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience with PC-DMIS software and a strong understanding of dimensional inspection within a manufacturing environment.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

• Receive and review inspection data, engineering drawings, CAD models, and product specifications.

• Program and operate Brown & Sharpe CMM equipment and Faro Arm measurement systems.

• Develop inspection programs using PC-DMIS software to verify parts against engineering drawings and CAD models.

• Inspect and measure sheet metal components, assemblies, and other manufactured products to ensure conformance with specifications.

• Apply GD&T principles and three-dimensional geometry when performing dimensional inspections.

• Interpret engineering drawings, manufacturing plans, blueprints, and technical specifications.

• Record inspection results, maintain accurate inspection logs, and prepare detailed reports identifying conforming and nonconforming products.

• Identify dimensional discrepancies and communicate quality issues to the appropriate personnel.

• Support compliance with established quality policies, procedures, and standards.

• Participate in continuous improvement initiatives supporting IATF 16949 and AS9100 quality management systems.

• Maintain accurate inspection documentation and ensure measurement data is organized and accessible.

• Perform additional quality inspection and measurement duties as assigned.

Desired Skills, Qualifications, and Experience:

• Minimum of 5 years of experience programming and operating CMM equipment and Faro Arm measurement systems.

• Practical experience using PC-DMIS software.

• Strong knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).

• Demonstrated ability to develop CMM programs that inspect parts against engineering drawings and CAD models.

• Strong understanding of three-dimensional geometry, dimensional measurement, and engineering principles.

• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, manufacturing plans, and product specifications.

• Experience inspecting sheet metal components and assemblies is preferred.

• Strong data management, documentation, and technical reporting skills.

• Excellent attention to detail and commitment to measurement accuracy.

• Ability to multitask, prioritize assignments, and work effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

• Familiarity with quality management systems and continuous improvement practices is preferred.
