CMM Programmer

As a Quality Engineering Technician, you will utilize CMM using PCDMIS and/or Zeiss Calypso CAD software and inspection equipment such as height gauges, micrometers, bore gauges, and surface analyzers to measure and layout complex components according to engineering requirements. You will be responsible for writing CMM programs using CAD models and blueprints, interpreting technical documentation, and performing inspections and tests to ensure conformance to specifications.

• Utilize CMM using PCDMIS and/or Zeiss Calypso CAD software and inspection equipment to measure and layout complex components according to engineering requirements.
• Write CMM programs and program CMM using CAD models and blueprints to verify conformance to engineering specifications and standards.
• Interpret and understand complex technical documentation such as blueprints and specifications.
• Perform and certify inspections and tests in accordance with technical documentation.
• Maintain inspection documentation in written, electronic, and photographic formats.
• Work effectively with management, engineering, suppliers, and customers using strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Conduct root cause analysis on machining and assembly issues and offer recommendations for resolution.
• Complete measurements and tasks on time according to aggressive schedules.
• Perform visual final inspection on finished products, including documentation and packing.
• Comply with safety policies and procedures and be available to work overtime if required.

• Associate's Degree in Automotive Technology or Engineering/Technical field preferred.
• Minimum 2 years of relevant work experience.
• Mechanical aptitude and familiarity with measuring instruments.
• CMM programming with PCDMIS and/or Zeiss Calypso software.
• Advanced blueprint reading, GD&T, and interpretation skills.
• Proficient in quality control, inspection, and supplier quality.
• Strong problem-solving skills for root cause analysis.
• Proficient computer skills, especially in MS Office applications.

• Ability to manually lift and manipulate heavy objects (up to 50 lbs).
• Ability to use lift assist devices for heavier objects.
• Committed to maintaining excellent housekeeping and safety practices.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
• Demonstrate flexibility in job assignments.

You will work in the prototype lab at the headquarters, alongside a small team. The work schedule typically involves first shifts, with flexibility for occasional overtime including weekends. The facilities are state-of-the-art, providing an excellent opportunity for skill development in the evolving automotive industry. The typical workweek is 5 hours over the standard schedule, with potential to ramp up to 10 hours per week as the program launches.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Detroit, MI.

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $40.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
