Job Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Medical Receptionist to join our healthcare team. Responsibilities
- Greet patients and visitors warmly, providing exceptional patient service and guiding them through check-in and check-out procedures
- Verify insurance coverage, perform insurance verification, and handle billing processes using systems such as Epic, Modest, Meditech, Athenahealth, eClinicalWorks, Dentrix, Eaglesoft, or similar EHR platforms
- Schedule appointments efficiently utilizing medical scheduling software; manage multi-line phone systems with professionalism and courtesy
- Review documentation for accuracy and completeness; assist with intake procedures and maintain accurate medical records in compliance with HIPAA regulations
- Perform insurance claims submission, follow-up on unpaid claims, and facilitate collections related to medical billing and CPT coding procedures
- Maintain office organization by filing documents, managing medical records, and ensuring proper documentation review for accuracy
- Support office management tasks including office supply inventory, filing systems, and general clerical duties such as typing reports using Microsoft Office tools
Experience
- Prior clinic or medical office experience is highly preferred; familiarity with dental terminology or hospital settings is a plus
- Strong knowledge of EMR systems such as Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, eClinicalWorks or similar platforms; experience with dental office management software like Dentrix or Eaglesoft is advantageous
- Proven ability to handle medical billing, coding (ICD-9/10), CPT coding, insurance verification, and Medicare processes with accuracy
- Excellent computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office applications; typing speed of at least 10 key per minute is desirable
- Bilingual abilities are a plus to serve diverse patient populations effectively
- Demonstrated understanding of HIPAA compliance standards and health information management practices
- Exceptional phone etiquette combined with strong organizational skills to manage front desk operations efficiently
