Assistant Area Manager

TITLE: Assistant Area Manager

LOCATION: Wisconsin/Illinois Boarder Region (Home Base: Darien, WI with regular travel to sites in Beloit, WI & Burlington, WI)

Responsibilities:

• Oversee day-to-day operations across multiple customer sites in the pod, currently a home-base site plus two additional locations, with a fourth site coming online
• Directly manage all drivers across the sites, approximately 15 today, with growth as new sites come online
• Lead, coach, and hold the team accountable with fairness and consistency
• Own after-hours and on-call coverage, proactively managing staffing and personally covering shifts or routes when necessary
• Maintain a consistent, visible presence at each site, working from a vehicle while on location
• Track performance and maintain timely, accurate reporting using Excel, with a transition toward Power BI
• Use maintenance and equipment-tracking systems (yard/truck telematics tools) to stay ahead of maintenance issues
• Serve as the primary point of contact for customer issues at each site, communicating proactively and escalating as needed

Requirements:

• 3 years of related business experience, ideally in supply chain, transportation, or a related field, including 1-2 years of supervisory experience with increasing responsibility
• Strong working knowledge of Excel; comfortable with reporting tools and workflow discipline
• Willingness to work after-hours and be reachable for staffing issues, especially around weekends
• Strong written and verbal communication skills for internal teams and external customers
• Ability to work independently and manage ambiguity, knowing when to involve leadership
• Comfortable working out of a vehicle with regular travel between sites, roughly an hour to an hour-and-fifteen minutes of total drive time across the pod
• Valid CDL required; ability to assist with driving if necessary

Preferred Experience:

• Background in yard management, third-party logistics, or a similar site-based operations environment
• Experience with Power BI or similar reporting/BI tools
• Familiarity with telematics platforms such as Geotab, or similar, not required but trainable
• BA/BS in logistics or a related field

The compensation range for this position is $70,000.00 to $74,800.00 (dependent on factors including but not limited to client requirements, experience, statutory considerations, and location).
