We are seeking a skilled Structural Engineer responsible for engineering commercial projects involving cold-formed steel systems and translating designs into FrameCAD software. The ideal candidate will have experience designing and evaluating new and existing structures while ensuring compliance with applicable building codes and industry standards.
This role requires strong problem-solving abilities, collaboration with cross-functional teams, and a commitment to continuous improvement in structural engineering practices. Prior experience with FrameCAD is not required, but willingness to learn the technology is essential.
Key ResponsibilitiesDesign and evaluate commercial structural systems using cold-formed steel framing.
Ensure all structural designs comply with applicable codes, safety standards, and engineering best practices.
Review and approve project plans, calculations, and design documentation for accuracy and compliance.
Monitor project schedules and coordinate engineering activities to support timely project completion.
Collaborate with architects, contractors, project managers, and production teams throughout project execution.
Identify structural design risks and develop effective mitigation strategies.
Support continuous improvement initiatives related to engineering and manufacturing processes.
Evaluate light-gauge and cold-formed manufacturing processes through research, testing, and analysis.
Assist in improving manufacturing and design methods by studying product requirements and modifying processes when necessary.
Train and guide technicians on design and development projects.
Maintain up-to-date professional and technical knowledge through workshops, publications, and professional organizations.
Contribute to overall team success by supporting additional engineering-related tasks as needed.
Professional Structural Engineer (PE) license required.
Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
Experience with CAD software required.
Cold-formed steel framing design experience preferred.
Experience designing reinforced concrete, structural steel, wood, and precast concrete systems preferred.
Strong analytical, critical thinking, and decision-making abilities.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet project deadlines effectively.
