Sterile Compounding Pharmacy Technician

We are seeking an experienced Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) for a compounding-focused position with a strong emphasis on both sterile and non-sterile preparations. This role is ideal for someone who is highly detail-oriented, enjoys hands-on compounding work, and is committed to maintaining accuracy, cleanliness, and consistency in a quality-driven environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Compound customized medications using proprietary formulations
• Prepare sterile compounds (injectables, ophthalmics) and non-sterile compounds (oral liquids, topicals, tablets)
• Perform routine cleaning and maintenance of the compounding lab
• Calibrate and maintain equipment (scales, balances, electronic meters)
• Ensure proper documentation and adherence to quality standards
• Participate in audits, inspections, and quality assurance checks
• Monitor inventory and report low stock levels
• Handle and dispose of chemicals following safety protocols
• Investigate and document any deviations from standard procedures
• Prepare samples for testing as required
• Utilize pharmacy software for prescription processing, labeling, and documentation
  
  

Qualifications

Active PTCB Certification (CPhT)

Active Illinois Pharmacy Technician License (in good standing)

Knowledge of USP and USP ; sterile compounding experience preferred

Strong understanding of pharmacy calculations (ratios, conversions, concentrations)

High attention to detail and ability to work in a precision-driven environment

Experience handling delicate compounding equipment

Ability to follow strict safety and documentation protocols

Strong computer skills; experience with pharmacy systems (Lifefile preferred)

At least 1 year of sterile compounding experience preferred
