Senior Associate Attorney – Business Litigation

Our client, a growing litigation firm in Fairfax, Virginia, is seeking a Virginia-barred business litigator with 7 years of experience to join their litigation team. The firm represents businesses, investors, and entrepreneurs in high-value commercial disputes.

This role offers substantial responsibility, including managing cases from pleadings through trial preparation, direct client interaction, and meaningful courtroom exposure. Unlike large firms where associates are narrowly focused, attorneys at this firm work directly with clients, help develop litigation strategy, and maintain significant courtroom involvement.

Responsibilities

Attorneys in this role will take a lead role in managing business litigation matters, including:

• Litigating business and commercial disputes in Virginia courts
• Handling contract, partnership, shareholder, and business tort disputes
• Drafting and arguing motions, pleadings, and briefs
• Managing written discovery and depositions
• Preparing cases for trial in Virginia Circuit Courts
• Appearing regularly in General District and Circuit Court hearings
• Conducting client consultations and case evaluations
• Collaborating with partners on litigation strategy
• Supporting business development efforts and cultivating referral relationships
• This position offers significant courtroom exposure and substantial case ownership.
  
  

Qualifications

• Business and commercial litigation
• Contract litigation and business torts
• Partnership or shareholder disputes
• Complex civil litigation in Virginia courts
• Managing cases through discovery, depositions, and dispositive motions
• Direct courtroom experience in Virginia Circuit Court (preferred)
• Ability to:
• Manage litigation matters with limited supervision
• Draft and argue dispositive motions
• Take and defend depositions
• Appear in Virginia Circuit Court hearings
• Prepare cases for trial
• Build and maintain client relationships

Compensation & Benefits

• Base Salary: $160,000 - $175,000
• Additional Compensation: Up to $80,000 in performance-based bonuses, case origination credit
