Description

  • Seeking a Senior Associate Scientist (contingent worker) to support antibody discovery projects focused on B cell-based workflows.
  • Support discovery research activities, primarily focused on cell culture, molecular biology, and immunology-related laboratory work.
  • This is a hands-on laboratory position supporting ongoing research programs.
  • This role will contribute to therapeutic antibody discovery campaigns using rodent immunization, serum titer screening, B cell sorting by flow cytometry, immune library generation, and hybridoma-based methods.
  • Execute established laboratory workflows that support immunization-based discovery, including rodent selection, immunization strategies (protein, cell-based, and genetic), serum response evaluation by ELISA, flow cytometry, VH/VL molecular cloning, immune library generation and quality control, electrofusion, and hybridoma culture and screening.
  • The role will also contribute to the evaluation and implementation of new technologies that enhance immunization and flow cytometry-based antibody discovery workflows in collaboration with other group members.
  • Provide laboratory support for therapeutic antibody discovery campaigns using flow cytometry, immune library generation, and hybridoma-based methods.
  • Execute established workflows to support rodent immunization studies, serum titer screening, B cell sorting, molecular cloning, and related sample processing activities.
  • Maintain reagent inventories, prepare laboratory materials, and ensure operational readiness for discovery activities.
  • Document experimental procedures, results, and observations accurately in laboratory records and internal data systems.
  • Summarize data and communicate key findings, experimental progress, and campaign outcomes to project teams.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in biology, immunology, molecular biology, biochemistry, or a related scientific discipline, with at least 2 years of full-time laboratory experience in an academic or industry setting.
  • Academic research experience is acceptable
  • Industry experience is not mandatory
  • Research technicians and laboratory personnel from universities, research institutes, biotech, or pharma environments are encouraged
  • Hands-on experience and technical capability in several of the following areas, aligned with the responsibilities of the role:
  • Hands-on experience supporting antibody discovery workflows, including flow cytometry, B cell-based methods, or hybridoma-based screening.
  • Working knowledge of molecular biology techniques such as PCR, cloning, and immune library generation or related sample preparation workflows.
  • Experience with laboratory documentation, data organization, and communicating experimental results clearly to project teams.
  • Strong laboratory organization skills, including reagent handling, inventory support, and maintaining materials needed for experimental workflows.
  • Experience in a laboratory setting with:
    • Cell culture
    • Molecular biology techniques
    • Immunology-related research
    • Antibody-related assays/testing
    • General laboratory experimentation
    • Animal Work
  • Comfortable working with laboratory animals (primarily mice)
  • Comfortable with tissue collection/dissection
  • Open to learning animal handling procedures
  • Backgrounds in:
    • Immunology
    • Cell Biology
    • Molecular Biology
    • Translational Research
    • Antibody Research
    • Pharmaceutical companies
    • Biotechnology companies
    • Academic research laboratories
    • Universities such as UMass, Boston University, and other research-focused institutions
Preferred Qualifications (Nice-to-Have)

  • ELISA experience
  • Tissue processing experience
  • Animal dosing experience
  • Antibody characterization/testing
  • Flow cytometry-based analysis or cell sorting.
  • Laboratory automation or high-throughput workflows.
  • Working with rodents, particularly mice, in a research setting.
  • Working with hybridoma generation, culture, or screening workflows.
