Our challenge

We are seeking an experienced Senior iOS Developer to join our team delivering a mobile application and companion SDK for a leading financial services client. This role is critical to meeting our contractual release commitments (multiple app and SDK releases annually) with high quality, well-tested code that passes client acceptance criteria on the first submission.

Additional Information*

The base salary for this position will vary based on geography and other factors. In accordance with law, the base salary for this role if filled within Charlotte NC/ Plano, TX is $115k - $120k/year & benefits (see below).

The Role

Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, and maintain native iOS applications and SDK components using Swift/SwiftUI and UIKit
• Lead technical design decisions and own architecture for key features/modules
• Implement new features per client-approved requirements and acceptance criteria
• Ensure compatibility with the latest iOS releases and maintain backward compatibility per supported OS version matrix
• Integrate with backend APIs, third-party SDKs, and banking/payment infrastructure securely
• Drive architecture decisions for scalability, maintainability, and security
• Manage app signing, provisioning profiles, and App Store submission processes
• Optimize app performance, memory usage, and battery consumption
• Mentor mid-level and junior developers on best practices, code quality, and testing discipline

Testing & Quality Assurance (Critical for This Role)

• Write unit tests for all new code (target minimum 80% code coverage) using XCTest
• Write UI/integration tests using XCUITest for critical user flows (login, payment, credential generation/validation)
• Define test strategy for new features, including edge cases and failure scenarios
• Conduct manual exploratory testing on multiple device types and iOS versions prior to QA handoff
• Perform security testing for sensitive data handling (tokenization, biometric auth, secure storage/Keychain)
• Validate against acceptance criteria before marking features "dev complete” reduce rejection risk during client UAT
• Document test cases and results to support release sign-off documentation
• Lead code reviews with a focus on testability, edge-case handling, and maintainability
• Reproduce and fix defects flagged during QA or client rejection within SLA timelines
• Own regression testing strategy to ensure new releases don't break existing functionality
• Collaborate with QA team to define test plans aligned with release acceptance criteria
• Conduct performance/load testing for SDK components used by external partner apps

Release Management

• Own release readiness for assigned features across recurring release cycles for the mobile app and SDK
• Prepare release notes, known issues documentation, and rollback plans
• Coordinate with QA and Product Owner to ensure release readiness checklist is met before submission
• Respond promptly to any client rejection feedback with root-cause analysis and remediation
• Provide technical risk assessments and timeline estimates to leadership

Collaboration

• Work closely with Android developers to maintain feature parity across platforms
• Coordinate with backend/API teams on integration requirements
• Communicate technical constraints, risks, or dependencies proactively to Product Owner/Project Manager
• Participate in sprint planning, daily standups, and retrospectives
• Act as technical point of contact for escalations related to owned features

Requirements:

• 6 years of professional iOS development experience
• Strong proficiency in Swift, with deep working knowledge of SwiftUI and UIKit
• Proven expertise in iOS app architecture patterns (MVVM, Clean Architecture, etc.) and ability to make/defend architectural decisions
• Hands-on experience writing unit tests (XCTest) and UI tests (XCUITest), with a track record of driving test coverage improvements
• Experience with SDK development — deep understanding of API design, versioning, and backward compatibility for third-party consumption
• Experience with secure coding practices — Keychain, biometric authentication (Face ID/Touch ID), certificate pinning, encryption
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines for iOS (Fastlane, Xcode Cloud, Jenkins, or similar)
• Experience with App Store submission process, provisioning profiles, and code signing
• Working knowledge of RESTful API integration and JSON parsing
• Experience with version control (Git) and collaborative development workflows
• Strong command of performance profiling tools (Instruments, Xcode debugging tools)
• Demonstrated experience mentoring other developers and leading code reviews

Preferred, but not required:

• Experience in banking, fintech, or payments applications (understanding of PCI-DSS, secure transaction handling)
• Experience with Apple Wallet / PassKit integration
• Familiarity with accessibility standards (WCAG, VoiceOver support)
• Experience working in managed services / client-facing delivery models with formal acceptance criteria and SLAs
• Knowledge of static analysis tools and automated code quality gates (SwiftLint, SonarQube)
• Experience with crash reporting and analytics tools (Firebase Crashlytics, Sentry)
• Prior experience supporting regulatory or compliance-driven release cycles
• Prior experience as a technical lead or owning end-to-end delivery of a feature/module

Success Metrics for This Role

• Zero critical defects escaping to client UAT for features owned
• Consistent achievement of code coverage targets (≥80%)
• On-time delivery of assigned features within sprint/release commitments
• Minimal rework due to requirement misunderstanding (validated via acceptance criteria review before dev starts)
• Positive contribution to reducing release rejection rate during the client acceptance window
• Effective mentorship is reflected in team code quality and testing maturity
