Our challenge:
The Platform Engineer (Python / Backend) is responsible for designing, developing, testing, and supporting the core backend services that power the Security Hub platform. This role will build scalable APIs, microservices, data processing pipelines, telemetry ingestion services, workflow orchestration components, and AI-enabled backend capabilities supporting the Data Private Cloud (DPC) Security Hub initiative.
The Platform Engineer will work closely with the Security Hub Architect, Technical Lead, Integration Lead, and DevOps teams to implement a secure, resilient, and scalable platform that serves as the authoritative system of record for security findings, controls, remediation workflows, and operational reporting.
Additional Information*
The base salary for this position will vary based on geography and other factors. In accordance with law, the base salary for this role if filled within Charlotte, NC is $105k - $115k/year & benefits (see below).
The Role
Responsibilities:
Backend Platform Development
- Design and develop Python-based backend services supporting Security Hub operations.
- Build scalable APIs, microservices, and reusable frameworks.
- Ensure enterprise-grade performance, scalability, and security.
Security Hub Core Services
- Develop services for security finding management, control validation, alert processing, event correlation, workflow orchestration, compliance evidence collection, and reporting.
- Support Security Hub as the centralized system of record for security findings.
Telemetry & Data Processing
- Build telemetry ingestion and normalization services.
- Develop event-driven pipelines using Kafka.
- Implement data correlation, enrichment, and transformation logic.
API & Integration Services
- Develop RESTful APIs and backend integration services.
- Support integrations with Keycloak, Ranger, OpenShift APIs, ServiceNow, Kafka, LGTM, Vault/Venafi, DataHub, and StorageGRID.
- Implement secure authentication, authorization, and service communication.
Automation & AI Enablement
- Build backend services for workflow automation and remediation orchestration.
- Implement AI-enabled capabilities such as triage support, root-cause analysis, risk prioritization, and recommendation services.
- Integrate AI within approved enterprise platforms.
Testing & Quality Engineering
- Develop unit, integration, and automated tests.
- Participate in code reviews and QA activities.
- Support performance, resiliency, and security testing.
DevOps & Deployment Support
- Contribute to CI/CD pipeline implementation and deployment automation.
- Support OpenShift containerization and production releases.
- Implement monitoring, logging, and observability solutions.
Operational Readiness
- Create technical documentation, runbooks, and operational procedures.
- Participate in knowledge transfer and hypercare activities.
Requirements:
- 5 years of Python backend development experience.
- Proven expertise in enterprise-grade APIs and microservices.
- Experience in cloud-native and containerized environments.
- Strong background in large-scale platform implementations.
