Accountant

Our challenge

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Accountant to support and oversee our organization’s accounting functions. The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, preparing reports, and ensuring compliance with GAAP. The Accountant will play a key role in analyzing financial performance and supporting management decision-making through accurate financial reporting and analysis.

Additional Information*

The base salary for this position will vary based on geography and other factors. In accordance with law, the base salary for this role if filled within Portland, OR/Indianapolis, IN is $55k - $60k/year & benefits (see below).

The Role

Responsibilities:

• Financial Record Keeping & Reporting: Support the organization’s accounting activities by maintaining precise financial records in compliance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
• Financial Analysis & Evaluation: Prepare, analyze, and evaluate reports on the organization’s financial performance for internal management and external stakeholders.
• Month-End, Quarter-End, Year-End Closing: Complete all closing activities promptly and accurately, including reconciliations and journal entries.
• Financial Documentation & Compliance: Ensure all financial activities adhere to GAAP standards and provide support during audits and tax preparations.
• Management Reporting: Generate detailed reports on financial performance, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements, to inform strategic decision-making.
• Tax & Regulatory Analysis: Assist with tax analysis and ensure compliance with applicable financial regulations.

Requirements:

• 2-4 years of relevant financial and/or accounting experience.
• Strong knowledge of balance sheets, financial analysis, and management reporting.
• Solid understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
• Ability to interpret financial data and support decision-making processes.
• Capable of analyzing complex financial information and providing actionable insights.
• Experience with accounting software and enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems.

• Ability to work independently and collaborate within a team.
• Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
