The Opportunity

The Controller will report directly to the CFO and lead all accounting operations for a fast-growing company in the turf and landscape industry. This role is critical to building a scalable finance function that supports organic growth and ongoing acquisitions. The Controller will oversee the monthly close process, financial reporting, compliance, and internal controls, while driving process improvements and system enhancements. This position offers significant opportunities for career progression as the company expands.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the monthly close process, including journal entries, accruals, and account analysis to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting across multiple entities

• Prepare and review account reconciliations for key balance sheet accounts, identifying and resolving discrepancies

• Oversee daily cash management activities, including monitoring cash flow, bank reconciliations, accounts payable, and accounts receivable

• Produce consolidated monthly financial statements and management reports, ensuring accuracy and compliance with GAAP

• Lead the adoption and optimization of a new ERP system, guiding technical implementation partners and ensuring alignment with business needs

• Conduct detailed variance analysis on financial results, identifying trends, risks, and opportunities to support strategic decision-making

• Support internal and external audits by preparing schedules, responding to inquiries, and ensuring compliance with audit and regulatory requirements

• Collaborate cross-functionally with operations, sales, and leadership to improve financial processes and implement best practices

• Develop and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure financial integrity

• Perform general accounting duties as needed, including fixed asset accounting, intercompany transactions, and special projects

• Mentor and develop the accounting team, fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA strongly preferred

• 7 years of progressive accounting experience, including multi-entity operations

• Strong knowledge of GAAP and internal controls

• Experience with ERP systems (NetSuite or similar preferred)

• Proven ability to lead and develop a team

• Advanced Excel and financial reporting skills
