Program Overview
The CLIENT Infrastructure Services Support (ISS) program provides day-to-day IT operational support for CLIENT''s infrastructure facilities, hardware, software, and systems — a mission-critical capability that enables CLIENT to sustain normal operations and respond to bank failures in a timely, effective manner. Core task areas include data center operations, network engineering, unified communications, client services, service desk, and monitoring and event management across on-premise and hybrid cloud environments.
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Infosphere Middleware Engineer to administer and support the IBM InfoSphere Information Server platform within CLIENT''s enterprise infrastructure. This role focuses on the operations, maintenance, performance, availability, and security of the InfoSphere middleware environment that underpins CLIENT''s data integration, data quality, and metadata management capabilities. The engineer will work as part of the ISS infrastructure operations team to ensure platform reliability, compliance with CLIENT security standards, and seamless support of downstream application teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Administer, configure, and maintain the IBM InfoSphere Information Server platform (DataStage, QualityStage, Information Analyzer, Information Governance Catalog, Metadata Workbench) across development, test, staging, and production environments.
- Perform installation, patching, version upgrades, and capacity planning for InfoSphere components in alignment with CLIENT change management, ITIL, and security policies.
- Monitor middleware health and performance using enterprise tools (e.g., SolarWinds, Splunk, Netcool); proactively respond to alerts, incidents, and performance degradation.
- Manage InfoSphere user roles, LDAP/AD integration, permissions, and security configurations in compliance with CLIENT identity and access management policies.
- Troubleshoot ETL job failures, environment issues, and integration points with underlying databases (DB2, Oracle, SQL Server), operating systems (Linux/AIX), and storage.
- Support the underlying middleware stack, including WebSphere Application Server, IBM MQ, and supporting Java runtime environments, as it relates to InfoSphere operations.
- Tune the InfoSphere environment for performance, parallel processing efficiency, and high availability; support DR planning and testing.
- Conduct root cause analysis (RCA) for critical incidents and document findings, lessons learned, and remediation steps.
- Develop and maintain technical documentation, SOPs, runbooks, configuration baselines, and disaster recovery procedures.
- Coordinate with CLIENT application development teams, DBAs, security engineers, and vendors (IBM) to resolve platform issues and deliver enhancements.
- Ensure all middleware configurations and operational processes comply with FISMA, NIST 800-53, and CLIENT information security and data protection standards.
- Participate in on-call rotation, after-hours maintenance windows, and weekend support for mission-critical production systems.
- Support CLIENT IT modernization initiatives, including potential migration of InfoSphere workloads to hybrid cloud (AWS GovCloud, Azure Government) environments.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor''s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Minimum 5–7 years of hands-on experience administering IBM InfoSphere Information Server (DataStage, QualityStage).
- Strong experience with Linux/AIX system administration and shell scripting (bash, ksh).
- Working knowledge of WebSphere Application Server, IBM MQ, and Java middleware components supporting InfoSphere.
- Proficiency in SQL and experience troubleshooting database connectivity issues (DB2, Oracle, SQL Server).
- Experience with enterprise monitoring tools (SolarWinds, Splunk, Netcool, or equivalent).
- Familiarity with ITIL processes (incident, problem, change, release management) in an enterprise operations environment.
- Strong understanding of federal security standards (FISMA, NIST 800-53) and experience operating in compliance-driven environments.
- Excellent troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and documentation skills.
- Ability to obtain and maintain an CLIENT Public Trust clearance.

Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience supporting CLIENT, FRB, OCC, Treasury, or other federal financial regulatory agencies.
- IBM Certified Solution Developer or Administrator – InfoSphere DataStage certification.

- Experience with InfoSphere migrations to cloud (AWS GovCloud, Azure Government).
- Familiarity with CI/CD tooling (Jenkins, Git, Ansible) for middleware deployments.
- Experience with enterprise job scheduling (Control-M, Autosys).
