SymSoft is looking for highly skilled and motivated Senior Data Scientist to join our advanced analytics team. The ideal candidate will be passionate about solving complex problems, building scalable data-driven solutions, and enabling the next generation of intelligent systems using cutting-edge technologies, including LLMs and machine learning.

You will work closely with data engineers, domain experts, data analysts, and business stakeholders to deliver actionable insights, predictive models, and intelligent automation. This role demands both technical expertise and strong communication skills to bridge data science with business impact.

This is an on-site position in Sacramento, CA.

Requirements

Responsibilities:

  • Rationalize and integrate disparate data sources to derive meaningful insights
  • Design and implement predictive and analytical modeling techniques to solve real-world problems
  • Prepare, cleanse, and transform structured and unstructured data for analysis and model development
  • Develop intelligent data pipelines for LLMs, including embedding large text corpora, generating SQL queries, and integrating structured data sources
  • Build solutions using Python, LLM frameworks, SQL/NoSQL, and cloud tools
  • Apply advanced analytical techniques such as machine learning, deep learning, and optimization algorithms
  • Design and implement Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) workflows, prompt engineering strategies, and vectorization methods
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams and engage with stakeholders at all levels to deliver value through data science
  • Communicate findings effectively through visualizations and narrative, using tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or similar
  • Independently manage and deliver multiple projects in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
  • Contribute to a collaborative team environment that emphasizes continuous learning and innovation

Required Skills:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, or a related field. PhD preferred
  • Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in data science, statistical modeling, and applied machine learning
  • Strong programming skills in at least one data science language (e.g., Python, R, Scala)
  • Expertise in working with large structured and unstructured datasets, including experience with big data platforms and data mining techniques
  • Proficiency in SQL, data wrangling, and building data pipelines
  • Experience with cloud platforms such as Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud
  • A strong understanding of LLMs, embeddings, and NLP techniques is a significant plus
  • Familiarity with healthcare data and clinical/business processes is highly desirable
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Self-motivated, results-oriented, and capable of working both independently and collaboratively

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with LLM-based architectures and workflow optimization
  • Proficiency in building connectors to structured and unstructured data systems
  • Visualization skills using Power BI, Tableau, or equivalent platforms
  • Prior experience in a regulated industry such as healthcare or finance is a strong plus
