Accounting Clerk

The Opportunity

We are seeking a detail-oriented and dependable Accounting Clerk to support daily accounting operations through accurate transaction processing, recordkeeping, invoicing, and reconciliation activities. This role offers the opportunity to broaden accounting responsibilities and develop professionally within a growing organization.

The ideal candidate will have experience in an automotive dealership, manufacturing organization, or other high-volume, transaction-driven environment. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys hands-on accounting work and would like to develop broader accounting skills over time.

This role is based in Niles, IL and reports directly to the Controller.

Position Highlights:

• Prepare and process customer invoices accurately and promptly

• Enter sales, billing and accounting information into the company’s accounting system

• Process accounts payable invoices and assist with payment preparation

• Apply customer payments and assist with accounts receivable activity

• Reconcile invoices, statements and accounting schedules

• Assist with credit-card and bank reconciliations

• Maintain organized electronic and paper accounting records

• Communicate with customers, vendors and internal departments regarding billing questions

• Assist with month-end closing activities

• Provide backup coverage for other accounting-office functions

• Follow established accounting procedures and internal controls

• Participate in accounting projects and process-improvement initiatives

• Perform other accounting and administrative responsibilities as assigned

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent

• One to three years of accounting, billing, bookkeeping or administrative experience

• Experience with accurate data entry and recordkeeping

• Working knowledge of accounts payable and accounts receivable processes

• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook

• Strong attention to detail and organizational ability

• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines

• Professional written and verbal communication skills

• Ability to handle confidential financial and employee information

• Willingness to work on-site as part of an accounting team

Preferred

• Associate degree in accounting, business or a related field

• Automotive dealership or manufacturing experience

• Experience with vehicle billing, title processing or dealership accounting

• Experience with inventory, purchase orders or three-way matching

• Familiarity with an accounting system

• Experience with Tekion is a plus but not required

• Competitive base salary of $55,000–$60,000
