High School Math & Science Tutor

Summary: To provide customized supplemental educational programming and tutoring to math(and possibly science) students grades 6 and above.

Responsibilities

• Provide one-on-one or small group tutoring sessions tailored to individual student needs.
• Assess student progress regularly and adjust teaching methods accordingly to enhance understanding.
• Utilize learning technology and educational resources to facilitate engaging and effective lessons.
• Foster a positive learning environment that encourages student participation and confidence.
• Maintain accurate records of student performance and communicate progress with students and their families.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Greet students cheerfully as they enter and exit the instructional area, calling them by name and showing genuine interest in them as individuals
• Provide effective table management techniques to ensure that the 2-3 students assigned are getting equal instructional time
• Evaluates progress of each student by documenting scores on activities and noting observations of student’s motivation/frustration levels with the material presented
• Adhering to the Sylvan Motivational Program by providing positive praise and Sylvan tokens for completing assignments.
• Providing effective feedback to students so that they are learning from their mistakes
