High School Math Educator: Architect of Logic & Analysis

Location: McCluer High School (9-12)

Year: 2026-2027 School Year

The Opportunity: Empowering the Analytical Mind

In our high schools, mathematics is more than a graduation requirement—it is the language of innovation. We are looking for a dynamic, visionary Math Teacher who can move students from "solving for $x$" to "solving for the future." You are the mentor who helps scholars bridge the gap between abstract theory and real-world application, ensuring they graduate with the quantitative literacy needed for college and career success.

As part of the FFSD "New Chapter," you will lead a classroom where persistence is celebrated and mathematical thinking is a tool for equity. If you are ready to help our students decode the patterns of the world, your next chapter starts here.

Role Summary

As a High School Math Teacher, you will inspire and support students in reaching their academic and professional goals. You will deliver high-quality, standards-aligned instruction across various pathways—including Algebra, Geometry, Statistics, and Calculus. Working in a supportive, student-centered environment, you will implement a rigorous curriculum that prioritizes conceptual understanding and problem-solving. Working collaboratively with colleagues and the community, you will help every student build the confidence to succeed in a STEAM-focused global economy.

Why You’ll Succeed (Qualifications)

  • Certified Professional: Valid Missouri Teaching Certification in Mathematics (9-12).
  • Degree Requirements: Bachelor of Arts or Science Degree, required; Master’s degree, preferred.
  • Master of Engagement: You have a "toolbox" of strategies to make complex concepts like trigonometry or quadratic functions accessible and relevant to a diverse student body.
  • Equity Champion: You are committed to disrupting the "I’m not a math person" narrative, ensuring that all students—especially those from underrepresented backgrounds—have access to high-level math pathways.
  • Data-Driven Instructor: You use formative assessment data to differentiate instruction, providing the right balance of support and challenge for every learner.

Your Impact (Key Duties)

  • Ignite Analytical Thinking: Design and lead lessons that challenge students to model real-world phenomena, from financial markets to physics, using mathematical functions.
  • Prepare for the Future: Ensure students are proficient in the standards required for the ACT, SAT, and college-readiness, while also fostering a deep love for the beauty of logic.
  • Collaborate for Excellence: Partner with your Math PLC to align curriculum, share successful instructional techniques, and analyze student growth data.
  • Utilize Technology: Leverage graphing calculators, Desmos, and other digital tools to help students visualize functions and explore complex data sets.
  • Foster Resilience: Cultivate a classroom culture where "productive struggle" is encouraged, helping students build the grit needed to tackle multi-step, complex problems.

Your Leadership Partners

  • Primary Support: Building Principal / Math Department Chair
  • Instructional Support: District Math Coordinator and Secondary Instructional Coaches

The Logistics of Your Success

  • Classification: Exempt, Certified Staff
  • Work Year: 10-Month Academic Calendar (187 Contract Days)
  • Salary: Based on the Teacher Salary Schedule, determined by experience and education level.
  • Benefits: Full-time Eligibility (Medical, Dental, Vision, & PSRS/PEERS Retirement).

The FFSD Advantage: Total Rewards & Support

We don't just hire teachers; we invest in mathematical leaders.

  • Collaborative Environment: Built-in weekly PLC time to work with fellow high school math educators on unit design and common assessments.
  • Professional Growth: Tuition reimbursement and district-provided PD focused on the latest research in secondary mathematics pedagogy.
  • Health & Heart: 100% district-paid medical, dental, and vision plans, plus access to our Ferg-Flor Care district health clinic.
  • Innovation & Resources: Access to the latest instructional technology and resources to support a modern, 21st-century math classroom.
