Mill Communications Specialist – Contractor (8-12 Month Assignment)
Location
Eastover, S.C. (Onsite)
Approximately 30 hours per week
Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities
Eastover Mill/Sumter Communications
Create and maintain internal communication content and channels, including:
- Newsletters
- SharePoint sites
- Digital screens and communication stations
- Email announcements and alerts
- PowerPoint presentations for town halls and internal meetings
- Printed materials
- Support routine and occasional urgent communications related to safety, people updates, operations, outages, visits and mill initiatives
- Develop and maintain communications toolkits in partnership with communications leaders (e.g., key messages, talking points, templates, FAQs, and channel guidance) to support consistent mill, North America business and community communications
- Ensure messaging aligns with company vision/mission/values, mill and business priorities, safety standards and established communications practices
- Support execution of internal and external events such as town halls, mill visits, employee engagement activities and community events
- Support mill communication manager (MCM) in fostering positive community relationships through grants/donations process, community events, volunteer initiatives and other external communication needs
North America Business Communications
- Support communications for North America initiatives impacting mill employees, including HR and benefits information, workforce and business initiatives, Operational Excellence and IT updates etc.
- Adapt corporate and North America messaging into clear, usable materials and toolkits for local mill audiences and leaders
- Support other communications and/or corporate affairs projects as assigned Sales Support: Collaborate with the sales team to provide technical expertise during customer visits, presentations, product trials and negotiations, helping to secure new business opportunities
- Manufacturing Support: Actively participate in various Quality Improvement efforts which include, Quality Systems Audits and observations at Manufacturing and Converting Facilities, and quality teams which are established to support a specific area requiring focus.
Required Skills & Knowledge
- Strong written and verbal communications skills and familiarity with AP style (may be asked to provide examples)
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); SharePoint experience a plus
- Strong organizational/project management skills and ability to manage multiple priorities
- Ability to work independently while collaborating closely with a communications team
- Ability to interact and build relationships with various levels of the organization in a professional manner
- Strong focus on safety and comfort working in a manufacturing environment
- Flexible, proactive and willing to support where needed
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree or working to obtain bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, related field or actively pursuing a bachelor’s degree
- Preferably 1 – 3 years working experience in communications related role
