About the role
Sylva Valley Health & Rehab is seeking a hands-on Director of Maintenance to lead plant operations and ensure a safe, well-maintained environment for residents, visitors, and staff. This role oversees building systems, preventative maintenance, work orders, vendor coordination, and life safety readiness in a regulated healthcare setting.

Key responsibilities
-
Lead all facility maintenance/plant operations and daily work order workflow
-
Execute and document preventative maintenance schedules (HVAC, plumbing, electrical, generators, medical gas/oxygen storage areas as applicable)

Oversee life safety readiness: fire doors, exits, egress pathways, emergency lighting, extinguishers coordination, alarm/sprinkler vendor visits, drills support

Maintain compliance documentation for inspections, permits, and vendor service records

Coordinate and manage outside vendors/contractors and verify scope completion

Manage inventory of maintenance supplies, tools, and equipment

Ensure safe work practices, infection control coordination during repairs, and proper storage of chemicals/tools

Support room turns, minor renovations, painting, flooring, and general repairs

Participate in emergency preparedness and serve in an on-call rotation as needed

Train/supervise maintenance staff (if applicable) and support grounds/housekeeping coordination as needed
Requirements
-
Prior maintenance leadership experience (healthcare/SNF preferred)

Working knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and general building maintenance

Strong understanding of life safety and regulatory expectations in a healthcare setting (training accepted if strong experience)

Excellent organization, documentation, and follow-through

Ability to lift/move equipment and work on your feet; comfortable with ladders/tools
Preferred (nice to have)

Experience with work order systems/PM tracking

Knowledge of CMS survey readiness related to physical environment/life safety
