Field Construction Manager – Fiber

Job Summary

We are seeking a Field Construction Manager to oversee fiber optic construction projects across an assigned market. This is a field-focused leadership position responsible for contractor performance, quality control, project coordination, budgets, and resolving construction issues through completion.

The work will primarily involve last-mile fiber deployment, with some backbone construction.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day fiber construction activities in the field.
• Manage contractors and multiple construction crews.
• Perform quality control inspections and ensure deficiencies are corrected.
• Coordinate construction schedules, materials, and project priorities.
• Monitor project budgets, progress, and contractor performance.
• Work closely with engineering, project management, splicing, and field teams.
• Identify and resolve construction issues, including design and field conflicts.
• Ensure projects are completed safely, on schedule, and to quality standards.
• Provide project updates and escalate major issues when necessary.

Requirements

• 4 years of telecommunications or fiber construction experience.
• Strong knowledge of OSP/fiber construction.
• Experience managing contractors, vendors, or field crews.
• Ability to work primarily in the field and travel throughout the assigned territory.
• Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office/Excel.
• Valid driver's license.

Preferred

• Fiber splicing knowledge or hands-on splicing experience.
• Experience with both aerial and underground fiber construction.
• Previous construction management or supervisory experience.
• Experience with last-mile/FTTH and backbone fiber projects.

This is a highly field-oriented role with minimal office time. A company vehicle is provided.
