Network Engineer
Location: East Peoria, IL
Work Schedule: Onsite, 5 days per week | Monday-Friday, 1st shift
Contract Duration: 12 months to start
Travel: Up to 25% within the U.S.
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Network Engineer to support enterprise LAN infrastructure across a large, complex environment. This position will work closely with network and infrastructure teams to troubleshoot issues, implement network solutions, support critical incidents, and execute network changes.
This is a hands-on technical role requiring strong Cisco networking experience and a solid understanding of LAN technologies, routing, switching, and network troubleshooting.
Key Responsibilities
- Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve LAN and network connectivity issues
- Replace or coordinate replacement of defective network components as needed
- Respond to network support requests and assist with LAN development and implementation
- Configure and support Cisco switching environments
- Support network technologies including TCP/IP, Ethernet, VLANs, VLAN trunking, OSPF, QoS, subnetting, and copper/fiber cabling
- Collaborate with firewall, VPN, wireless, NAC, and other infrastructure teams to plan and execute network changes
- Work directly with business partners and vendors on infrastructure integrations
- Follow ITSM processes and maintain documentation for network changes
- Design and implement process improvements related to network development and support
- Provide technical guidance to business and technology partners regarding LAN-related issues
- Participate in a rotating on-call schedule that may include occasional off-shift or weekend support
