Warehouse Associate / Forklift Operator

Contract-to-Hire | 1st Shift | $17/hr

We are seeking a dependable Warehouse Associate I to support warehouse operations in Whitestown, IN. This role is responsible for accurately loading, unloading, receiving, storing, picking, packing, and shipping materials, tools, equipment, and products.

This is a hands-on warehouse position requiring forklift operation, material handling equipment use, and the ability to stand, walk, lift, and move throughout the shift.

Responsibilities

Receiving

• Unload materials from delivery trucks and move them to temporary storage areas for inspection.
• Inspect packaging and shipment monitoring devices for damage or discrepancies.
• Compare received materials against the bill of lading.
• Document discrepancies and note any variations during receiving.
• Sort and place materials on racks, shelves, or bins by size, type, style, color, product code, or other assigned sequence.
• Mark materials with proper identifying information.
• Record material quantities received and put-away locations.
• Perform quality inspections based on customer requirements.

Shipping

• Read pick lists, shipping orders, or requisitions to determine items needed for shipping, staging, production, assembly, or fulfillment.
• Pick orders accurately from stock.
• Record material or item quantities picked.
• Enter records into computer systems.
• Process shipments through a warehouse management system.
• Verify, scan, count, pack, and ship items accurately.
• Print shipping documents and labels.
• Package items properly to protect them during transportation.
• Apply required warning, attention, or informational labels.
• Follow customer routing guides for packaging, sorting, pallet building, and shipment preparation.
• Operate forklifts and other warehouse equipment safely.
• Load materials onto trucks.
• Coordinate freight carriers according to routing requirements.
• Make local deliveries of installation materials as needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Three or more years of warehouse experience performing receiving and shipping functions may be considered.
• Current forklift certification required.
• Current driver’s license required.
• Must be able to operate forklifts and material handling equipment safely.
• Must be trained in safe lifting, handling, and transporting of materials of various sizes, shapes, and weights.
• Ability to use a computer to enter records and process warehouse transactions.
• Ability to regularly lift and/or move up to 50 lbs.
• Ability to stand, walk, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and use hands throughout the shift.
• Ability to suggest improvements to working conditions, equipment usage, and overall efficiency.
