Fund Accountant

Job Description:

Location: Remote

Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM-5:00 PM MT

Duration: August 2026 through March 2027, with the possibility of an extension of up to 2 months

Pay Rate: $40.00-$50.00/hour (based on experience)

We are seeking an experienced Fund Accountant to join a dynamic Fund Accounting team on a contract basis. This is an excellent opportunity for an accounting professional with a strong background in mutual fund accounting, fund valuations, and Net Asset Value (NAV) who enjoys working in a fast-paced financial environment.

Please Note: Minimal overtime may be required during quarter-end close and year-end audit periods.

Responsibilities

• Process daily cash transactions and post accounting entries.
• Prepare wire requests and research transaction exceptions to ensure timely clearing of cash activity.
• Review new security master file setups for portfolio security purchases.
• Process daily accounting journals and reconcile daily trial balance accounts and bank statements.
• Analyze account activity and post manual adjusting entries.
• Calculate accurate and timely monthly portfolio valuations.
• Reconcile portfolio contributions and withdrawals to Transfer Agent activity.
• Prepare and distribute monthly fund reconciliation reports.
• Reconcile general ledger accounts, investigate reconciling items, and resolve outstanding issues.
• Prepare daily, monthly, quarterly, and annual financial and compliance reports.
• Perform other accounting duties as assigned.
  
  

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting OR an additional four years of directly related experience in lieu of an Accounting degree.
• 4-5 years of Mutual Fund Accounting and Fund Valuation experience.
• Hands-on experience calculating and supporting Net Asset Value (NAV).
• Experience processing accounting journals, reconciliations, portfolio valuations, and financial reporting.
• Experience reconciling general ledger accounts, bank statements, and Transfer Agent activity.
• Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting.
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining accuracy and meeting deadlines.
