Designer

Summary:

Swimwear Anywhere is seeking an experienced Swimwear Designer to lead all phases of the product design process, from initial concept through final development, while working closely with the Design Director and cross-functional teams. This role requires a strong combination of creative vision and technical expertise to develop innovative, market-relevant swimwear collections that align with brand direction and seasonal trends. The ideal candidate must be able to translate inspiration into commercially viable swimwear designs while maintaining both aesthetic appeal and functional performance. A strong foundation in swimwear design, including fit, fabrication, and construction, is required, along with proficiency in Adobe Illustrator.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and present seasonal swimwear collections aligned with brand direction, market trends, and business objectives
• Conduct trend research and create market shopping reports with a focus on elevated design, innovation, and competitive landscape
• Develop and present seasonal trend boards, mood boards, and design concepts that support overall collection direction
• Work closely with upper management throughout the design and development process for seasonal swim collections, from initial concept through final approval, ensuring alignment with customer needs, brand direction, and business objectives
• Collaborate on color palette development, print direction, and overall assortment strategy
• Create detailed sketches, line sheets, technical flats, and design presentation materials
• Develop comprehensive tech packs and technical sketches for production and vendor communication
• Source and develop fabrics, trims, and materials for swimwear and cover-ups while maintaining strong communication with mills, vendors, and suppliers
• Manage multiple design projects simultaneously while maintaining deadlines and calendar milestones
• Partner cross-functionally with the Design Director, Product Development, Art Department, and Company Leadership throughout the design process
• Work closely with the Art Department on prints, colorways, graphic placement, and repeat development
• Design across multiple swimwear categories with a strong emphasis on fit, function, fabrication, and modern styling
• Lead and actively participate in fit sessions, providing clear direction on fit, construction, garment performance, and overall design intent
• Collaborate closely with Product Development and Production teams to ensure design execution, quality standards, and commercialization goals are achieved

Qualifications & Skills

• Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Design or related field required
• 5 years of experience in swimwear, intimates, activewear, or related apparel categories
• Strong creative, technical, and conceptual design skills within swimwear or related apparel categories
• Ability to interpret inspiration and direction from licensed brands and translate concepts into commercially viable swimwear collections
• Experience with the design process from initial concept through final development and production handoff
• Strong understanding of swimwear fit, construction, fabrication, trims, and garment functionality
• Knowledge of stretch fabrics, sourcing, washes, finishes, and material development
• Strong trend awareness with the ability to identify and interpret emerging fashion, color, and market trends
• Ability to communicate design concepts through mood boards, presentation boards, sketches, technical flats, and tech packs
• Strong design aesthetic with the ability to translate abstract concepts and seasonal inspiration into market-relevant collections
• High level of proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, including Illustrator and Photoshop; InDesign is a plus
• Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Word and Excel
• Skilled in fashion illustration, technical flats, and garment construction; sewing and patternmaking experience is a plus
• Understanding of merchandising, assortment planning, and pricing considerations within the design process
• Excellent communication, collaboration, and cross-functional partnership skills
• Highly organized with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
• Self-motivated, proactive, and solution-oriented with the ability to work independently and collaboratively
• Strong work ethic with the ability to adapt quickly, prioritize effectively, and meet deadlines consistently

Education & Experience

• 5–10 years of experience in swimwear, intimates, activewear, or related apparel categories
• Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Design or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience required
