Security Officer - Armed

The Security Officer is responsible for performing a variety of assigned duties to ensure the safety and security of personnel, property, and facilities within a designated area. This role involves the consistent enforcement of established security policies, procedures, rules, and regulations. All duties are to be carried out in accordance with organizational standards and under the supervision and review of the assigned supervisor.

Duties and Responsibilities

The duties listed below are essential to meet the minimum requirements of the position but are not limited to the following:

• Protect the client’s property, personnel, and assets by maintaining a safe and secure environment

• Respond promptly and professionally to incidents, emergencies, and critical situations with a calm, solution-focused approach

• Conduct routine and random patrols of the facility and surrounding perimeter; working conditions may vary depending on the client site

• Accurately complete and submit all required documentation, including Daily Activity Reports, incident reports, logbook entries, and other job-related records

• Adhere to site-specific post orders and performance guidelines; report any safety hazards, security breaches, or unusual incidents through both written and verbal communication to supervisory personnel

• Monitor access control points, and log all visitors, vendors, contractors, and deliveries in accordance with established protocols

Pay Rate

• $15.00 starting pay - $18.50 depending on experience

Qualifications and Education Requirements

• Must be at least 21 years of age

• Security Armed Guard Permit - Must Have Before Starting

• Pass Firearm Training with Certified Instructor

• Reliable means of transportation

• Proficient in basic computer and smartphone use

• Willing and able to work a flexible schedule, including mornings, nights, holidays, and weekends

• Strong attention to detail and excellent observation skills

• High school diploma or GED preferred; or a minimum of 5 years of verifiable experience in a related field

• Must successfully pass a background check and drug screening

• Valid driver’s license or state-issued identification card required

Physical Requirements

This position requires specific physical abilities to ensure the Security Officer can effectively perform essential job duties. The candidate must be able to:

• Stand and Walk for Extended Periods: Remain on foot for long durations, including traversing outdoor areas with uneven terrain, without significant physical strain.

• Climb Stairs: Regularly ascend and descend stairs to conduct patrols and access multiple levels of a facility.

• Lift and Carry: Lift and transport items weighing up to 50 pounds, including equipment or materials as needed.

• Endure Various Weather Conditions: Perform duties outdoors in all types of weather, including heat, cold, rain, and wind.

• Manual Dexterity: Operate security-related tools and equipment such as radios, locks, keys, and surveillance devices with precision.

• React Quickly: Run or move swiftly for short distances in response to emergencies or urgent situations.

• Maintain Physical Stamina: Work long shifts while remaining alert, attentive, and able to manage high-pressure or stressful situations professionally.

• Kneel, Crouch, and Bend: Access low or confined areas when necessary to perform safety checks or assist during incidents.

• Possess Strong Vision and Hearing: Detect visual cues, alarms, or unusual sounds through good peripheral vision and auditory awareness to maintain effective situational awareness.
