Position Overview: Area Manager (Jackson County, MS – Mobile, AL Market)
The Area Manager is responsible for the overall management, direction, and performance of multiple security operations across an assigned region spanning Jackson County, Mississippi through the Mobile, Alabama market. This role ensures the safety and security of personnel, property, and client facilities while maintaining full responsibility for staffing, training, compliance, and client satisfaction across all assigned accounts.
This is a field-based, flexible working position that requires the ability to travel between sites and actively support operations as needed. The Area Manager is expected to step into various roles when required, including providing on-site coverage, filling staffing gaps, and supporting critical assignments to ensure uninterrupted service delivery.
The Area Manager provides leadership and strategic oversight to site supervisors and security personnel, ensuring consistent enforcement of policies, procedures, and contractual obligations. This position operates with a high level of autonomy while coordinating closely with senior leadership and serving as the primary point of contact for multiple clients within the region.
Compensation:
This is an hourly position with a pay range of $18.00 – $20.00 per hour, based on training and experience. Opportunities for advancement and additional compensation may be available based on performance and operational success.
Requirements:
An armed guard permit is required for this position. Candidates who do not currently possess an active permit may be considered; however, the permit must be obtained within a specified timeframe after hire and maintained throughout employment. This position will have fixed weekly hours that will be required to be worked at a job site. Candidate must be able to pass a full background check and drug screen, administered annually.
Duties and Responsibilities:
The following duties are essential to meet the minimum requirements of the position, but are not limited to:
Regional Security Operations Management:
- Oversee and manage security operations across multiple sites within the assigned region.
- Ensure the protection of client property, personnel, and assets through effective security programs.
- Enforce all security policies, procedures, post orders, and contractual obligations consistently across all locations.
- Conduct regular site visits to evaluate operations, identify risks, and ensure service quality.
Flexible Field Support (Working Manager Role):
- Travel between assigned locations to provide operational oversight and direct support.
- Fill open shifts or provide temporary coverage at sites as needed to maintain service continuity.
- Assist with call-offs, emergency coverage, and short-notice staffing needs.
- Maintain the ability to perform all essential duties of a security officer when required.
- Adapt to varying site requirements, schedules, and operational demands.
Leadership and Personnel Management:
- Supervise, direct, and support site supervisors and security officers across multiple locations.
- Recruit, hire, train, and retain qualified personnel to meet staffing needs across the region.
- Conduct performance evaluations, disciplinary actions, and coaching to maintain high standards.
- Promote a professional, accountable, and team-oriented work environment across all sites.
- Ensure all personnel are properly trained, licensed, and compliant with company and regulatory requirements.
Scheduling and Workforce Coordination:
- Oversee scheduling across multiple sites to ensure full coverage and operational efficiency.
- Monitor overtime, attendance, and staffing levels, making adjustments as needed.
- Address call-offs, staffing shortages, and scheduling conflicts in a timely and effective manner.
Incident and Emergency Oversight:
- Provide leadership and direction during incidents, emergencies, and critical situations across the region.
- Ensure proper response protocols are followed and coordinate with local emergency services when necessary.
- Review incident reports for accuracy and compliance, and ensure timely submission.
- Conduct follow-up investigations and implement corrective actions as needed.
Client Relations and Account Management:
- Serve as the primary liaison for multiple clients within the assigned region.
- Maintain regular communication to ensure client expectations are met or exceeded.
- Address client concerns, provide updates, and ensure high levels of customer satisfaction.
- Conduct regular client meetings and provide operational reports as required.
Compliance and Risk Management:
- Ensure all operations comply with local, state, and federal regulations in both Mississippi and Alabama.
- Conduct site inspections, audits, and risk assessments across all assigned locations.
- Develop and implement risk mitigation strategies to address identified vulnerabilities.
- Maintain required documentation, licensing, and certifications for all personnel and sites.
Reporting and Documentation:
- Oversee the completion and accuracy of all reports, including Daily Activity Reports and incident documentation.
- Maintain organized and detailed records for all assigned accounts.
- Analyze operational data and trends to identify areas for improvement.
Training and Development:
- Coordinate and implement training programs for supervisors and officers across the region.
- Ensure ongoing development in areas such as emergency response, compliance, and customer service.
- Support leadership development and succession planning within the team.
Quality Assurance and Continuous Improvement:
- Conduct regular performance audits and site inspections to ensure consistent service delivery.
- Identify operational gaps and implement improvements to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
- Ensure adherence to company standards and contractual obligations at all times.
Qualifications:
- Education and Certification:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice, Security Management, or a related field preferred.
- Experience:
- A minimum of 5-years of experience in security operations
- Proven experience in overseeing and managing security teams, conducting staff training, and handling personnel issues.
- Skills & Competencies:
- Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- In-depth knowledge of security operations, surveillance systems, and emergency response protocols.
- Proficient in using security technology such as CCTV, access control systems, and alarm monitoring.
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities under pressure.
