What are the responsibilities and job description for the Marine Service Technician position at SWELL Marine?
SWELL Marine is a fast-growing boat service and storage company in White Bear Lake. We built our business on being responsive, reliable, and actually answering the phone when customers call. We're looking for another set of hands to help us keep that standard as we grow.
The Role
You'll be doing a mix of hands-on boat service work and shop tasks. We're NOT looking for a certified marine tech (though if you are, great). We're looking for someone who's handy, follows instructions, and isn't afraid to get their hands dirty.
**What you'll do:**
- Winterize and summerize boats (inboards, outboards, I/Os, pontoons)
- Shrink wrap boats for winter storage
- Basic maintenance: oil changes, battery installs, fluid checks
- Move boats around the yard (trailers, forklifts)
- Organize parts, prep workspaces, general shop tasks
- Whatever else needs doing (some weeks you're wrenching, some weeks you're packing boxes)
What We Need
- Comfortable with hand tools and power tools
- Mechanical aptitude (grew up fixing cars, lawn equipment, bikes, etc.)
- Able to lift 50 lbs and work on your feet all day
- Driver's license (you'll move boats and trailers)
- Show up on time, work hard, don't complain
- OK with seasonal hours (crazy busy spring/fall, slower summer/winter)
**Bonus points:**
- Experience with boats, small engines, or automotive work
- Forklift experience
- Trailer backing skills
What You Get
- **$18-24/hr** depending on experience
- Flexible schedule (we work with your availability in slow months)

Schedule
- **Peak season (April-May, Sept-Nov):** 40-60 hrs/week
- **Off-season (June-Aug, Dec-Mar):** 20-30 hrs/week or layoff (your choice)
We're honest about the seasonal nature. If you need year-round 40 hrs, this isn't the job. If you want good hourly pay and flexibility in the slow months, let's talk.
