Bakery Production Assistant

Do you love creating with your hands? Are you an artist, crafter, cosmetologist, nail artist, maker, or someone who enjoys detailed, hands-on work?

What You'll Do

As a Bakery Production Assistant, you'll help keep production moving efficiently by assisting with a variety of support tasks, including:

  • Cleaning and maintaining work areas
  • Folding bakery boxes
  • Packaging finished cookies
  • Applying product labels
  • Mixing icing colors
  • Making cookie dough
  • Preparing supplies for decorators
  • Organizing inventory and supplies
  • Assisting with production and bakery projects as needed

No two projects are exactly alike, so adaptability, communication and a positive attitude are important.

Who We're Looking For

The ideal candidate is someone who:

  • Is dependable, honest, and takes pride in doing quality work
  • Communicates professionally and manages their availability responsibly
  • Reliably completes posted projects on time
  • Works with a sense of urgency while maintaining attention to detail
  • Can prioritize multiple tasks and stay organized
  • Enjoys staying busy and productive throughout the day
  • Learns quickly and takes direction well
  • Gets along with others and enjoys working in a close-knit team environment
  • Takes initiative instead of waiting to be told what to do
  • Enjoys listening to music while working
  • Is comfortable standing, walking, lifting bakery supplies, and performing repetitive tasks throughout the day

Our production schedule depends on everyone doing their part. When one task falls behind, it affects the entire production timeline and delays incoming projects that bring continuous streams of income for us all. We're looking for someone who understands the importance of teamwork, efficiency, and meeting deadlines.

Schedule

  • Work is based on current project availability and production needs.
  • Contractors have the flexibility to work what fits their personal schedule during open project hours.
  • Most projects take place during daytime hours, and we strive to complete production by approximately 2:30 PM whenever possible.
  • Weekend projects are scheduled only when production demands require them, and we work hard to keep weekends free whenever possible.
  • Project availability varies throughout the year, with busier and slower seasons. Our busy season is September through June while our summers are lighter. Summer seasons can be 5-10 hours while Fall through Spring can be 5-40 hours of your choosing.

This Position Is Great For

  • Artists
  • Crafters
  • Cookie decorators
  • Cosmetologists
  • Nail artists
  • Gig workers seeking daytime opportunities
  • Stay-at-home parents returning to work
  • Retirees looking for flexible project work
  • Anyone who enjoys creative, hands-on production

No bakery experience is necessary. We can teach bakery-specific skills. What we can't teach is reliability, a positive attitude, attention to detail, and a strong work ethic.

Hiring Process

To make sure this opportunity is a great fit for everyone, our hiring process includes:

  • Zoom interview
  • In-person interview
  • A minimum of three paid trial shadow sessions at the rate of $10 per hour. (approximately 1–2 hours each)

The trial sessions allow you to experience our work environment while giving us the opportunity to evaluate your attention to detail, pace, communication, and overall fit with our team.

Compensation

  • 1099 Independent Contractor position
  • Project-based work
  • Competitive contractor pay based on experience and demonstrated abilities

How to Apply

Please submit your resume along with a few sentences telling us about yourself and why you'd be a great fit for this position.

We'd especially love to hear about any experience you have with:

  • Art or illustration
  • Crafts or DIY projects
  • Cookie decorating
  • Baking
  • Nail art or cosmetology
  • Sewing, painting, Cricut, woodworking, or other creative hobbies
  • Jobs that required speed, organization, or strong attention to detail

Professional experience isn't required—we value passion, creativity, reliability, and a willingness to learn just as much.
