POSITION OVERVIEW

SWAT Construction Inc. is seeking experienced and safety-focused Heavy Equipment Operators to join our construction crews.

The Heavy Equipment Operator will safely and efficiently operate various types of heavy construction equipment to support heavy civil, pipeline, site development, excavation, grading, and infrastructure projects.

This is a full-time, on-site position with travel to project locations required. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience operating heavy equipment and can work effectively with laborers, spotters, foremen, superintendents, and other members of the field crew.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Safely operate heavy construction equipment, including excavators, dozers, loaders, graders, skid steers, and other equipment as assigned.
• Perform excavation, grading, trenching, backfilling, site preparation, and material handling activities.
• Operate equipment efficiently while maintaining production and quality standards.
• Perform fine grading and earthwork according to project plans, specifications, and grade requirements.
• Utilize GPS machine control systems when applicable.
• Follow directions from Foremen, Superintendents, and project management.
• Work closely with laborers and spotters to maintain safe equipment operations.
• Conduct daily equipment inspections and report mechanical issues, damage, or maintenance concerns.
• Maintain awareness of personnel, utilities, structures, vehicles, and other hazards around operating equipment.
• Follow established hand signals, radio communication, and jobsite traffic procedures.
• Maintain safe working distances and proper positioning around other equipment and personnel.
• Assist with general jobsite activities when equipment operation is not required.
• Keep equipment clean and properly maintained.
• Follow all company, client, and project-specific safety policies and procedures.
• Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
• Perform other duties as assigned by project supervision.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Previous experience operating heavy construction equipment is required or strongly preferred.
• Experience in heavy civil, pipeline, site development, excavation, grading, or infrastructure construction is highly preferred.
• Experience operating multiple types of heavy equipment is a plus.
• Experience with GPS machine control is preferred.
• Ability to read and understand basic construction plans, grades, and elevations is preferred.
• Ability to work effectively with equipment operators, laborers, spotters, foremen, and other crew members.
• Strong understanding of construction site safety and equipment operating procedures.
• Ability to identify potential hazards and operate equipment safely around personnel and other equipment.
• Ability to perform daily equipment inspections and communicate maintenance concerns.
• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• Physically capable of performing the duties associated with construction work.
• Strong work ethic, reliability, and willingness to work as part of a team.
• Willingness and ability to travel to project locations as required.
• Must be willing to work the schedule required by the project.
• Valid driver's license is preferred.

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

The ideal candidate is an experienced, dependable, and safety-conscious equipment operator who takes pride in operating machinery safely and efficiently.

Candidates should be comfortable working in an active construction environment and working closely with ground personnel and other equipment operators. Experience with pipeline, heavy civil, excavation, grading, and GPS machine control is a strong plus.

Pay: $25.00 - $35.00 per hour

Expected hours: No less than 40.0 per week
