FOURTH GRADE TEACHER  - 

Reports to: Building Principal

Job Description:  

  • Creatively provide an interdisciplinary course of study that integrates reading, writing, and analytical skills development in alignment with state curricular frameworks for core content areas.
  • Implement district learning goals and objectives using a standards-based Math Curriculum, and Readers’ and Writers’ Workshop Model
  • Implement an inquiry-based mathematics curriculum, Illustrative Mathematics, building conceptual understanding as well as fluency and application abilities.
  • Create a developmentally appropriate, child-centered environment that establishes positive student behavioral expectations conducive to all learners' needs through structured routines and (PBIS) positive behavioral interventions while integrating social emotional learning.
  • Establish a classroom structure that values positive relationships through the intentional implementation of an appropriate curriculum
  • Administer district beginning-of-the-year, mid-year, and end-of-year assessments in accordance with district guidelines.
  • Familiarity with Into Reading, I-Ready, AimsWeb Testing, Fountas & Pinnell (BAS testing), and standards-based grading is advantageous.
  • Adept at differentiating instruction to meet the learning needs of all students.
  • Comfortable with technology: experience with Google Classroom, Zoom, SeeSaw or similar platforms is preferred.
  • Other duties typical for a classroom teacher.

Required Qualifications

  • Licensure: Hold a valid Massachusetts Educator License issued by DESE in the relevant subject area and grade level (Provisional, Initial, or Professional).
  • Education: Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university (Master’s Degree preferred and often required for Professional licensure).
  • SEI Endorsement: Possession of the Sheltered English Immersion (SEI) Teacher Endorsement is required for all core academic teachers.
  • Background Clearance: Successful completion of a Massachusetts CORI (Criminal Offender Record Information) and a fingerprint-based national criminal background check (CHRI).

  • Professionalism: A track record of punctuality and consistent, reliable attendance as a foundation for student safety and instructional continuity.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with data-driven instruction and Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS).
  • Strong proficiency in educational technology and communication platforms (e.g., Google Classroom, Aspen, or ParentSquare).
  • Additional certifications in Special Education or English as a Second Language (ESL).

 

Physical Requirements: 

This position may require long periods of standing, walking, and sitting; talking or hearing in person and by telephone; using hands to finger, handle, or feel objects or controls; reaching with hands and arms. Regularly required to stoop, kneel, bend, crouch, and lift up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, color vision and the ability to adjust focus. The individual may be exposed to ultraviolet lights as are found in computer monitors and copying equipment. The individual may be exposed to various hazards in the building.
